If Newcastle United head coach Eddie Howe wants to continue to rotate his squad for the coming hectic schedule, then it’s vital he has as many players fit and available as possible.<\/p>\n
The Magpies have had more than their fair share of injury issues already this season, although significantly most have come as the result of challenges rather than strains.<\/p>\n
United have been denied the services of \u00a395m worth of talent in Yoane Wissa and Jacob Ramsey, with the summer signings now close to a return.<\/p>\n
However, full-backs Tino Livramento and Lewis Hall face longer in the sidelines, while there was more fears over two players on international duty. His comeback was delayed slightly, but if he’s not part of the squad at Brighton then he could well be involved against Fulham later this month.<\/p>\n What Howe said: <\/strong>“Yoane saw a specialist again yesterday for a check-up on his knee. We probably think now it’ll be eight weeks rather than six. No recurrence or problem, just slightly longer.”<\/p>\n Expected return: <\/strong>Fulham (h), October 25<\/p>\n Jacob Ramsey<\/p>\n Injury: <\/strong>Ankle\/foot<\/p>\n United fans have not seen much of the \u00a340m summer signing from Aston Villa after he received a blow to his ankle in the goalless draw at Leeds United. He just missed out on a place in the squad for the 2-0 win over Nottingham Forest before the international break, and is expected to be part of the group at Brighton.<\/a><\/p>\n What Howe said: <\/strong>“He was very close and trained for two days in the build-up to Forest. I didn’t want to push him too early. That puts him in line for a return somewhere near the end of November.<\/p>\n What Howe said: <\/strong>“He went to see a specialist a couple of days ago because the scan maybe looked better than we initially thought. The specialist confirmed it’s roughly an eight-week injury. A blow to lose him, but for what it could have been, it is good news.”<\/p>\n Expected return: <\/strong>Late November\/early December<\/p>\n Lewis Hall<\/p>\n Injury: <\/strong>Hamstring<\/p>\n The United left-back has had a tough eight months with injury, so this latest setback is a cruel blow. Having been slowly reintroduced to first-team action this season, he picked up a hamstring injury in the Champions League win over Union Saint-Gilloise, with his return date unclear at this stage.<\/p>\n What Howe said: <\/strong>“He felt his hamstring against Union, which was a real blow for us. We’ve been trying to manage him back. Unfortunately, he just felt something in that game. We’ve had it scanned. Before we get conclusive evidence of how long he’ll be out, he needs another re-scan in about 10 days, I think it is. It’s not going to be a short-term injury. We hope it’s not going to be a long-term injury, but we don’t know yet.”<\/p>\n Expected return: <\/strong>Unknown<\/p>\n Lewis Miley<\/p>\n Injury: <\/strong>Calf<\/p>\n The 19-year-old withdrew from the England Under-21 squad last week with a calf injury, missing the Young Lions’ European Championship qualifiers against Moldova and Andorra. However, it is thought to be more a precautionary move, <\/a>with United hoping he will be OK to take his place in the squad for Brighton.<\/p>\n Expected return: <\/strong>Brighton (a), October 18<\/p>\n Dan Burn<\/p>\n Injury: <\/strong>Broken hand<\/p>\n With Hall and Livramento already out, the last thing United needed was another defender injury, so there was understandable concerns among fans when Dan Burn was spotted with a heavily-strapped hand on England duty, However, as Lee Ryder reported from Wembley last week,<\/a> while he has broken a bone in his hand, it won’t keep him out of the side.<\/p>\n What Burn said: <\/strong>“I actually broke my hand, I don’t even know how I did it, I think I went to grab someone, and then I felt a crack. It was early in the second half, so I went for the scan, and I have seen a specialist. I’ve been told I can play with it.
