An investigation is underway after a teenager was stabbed in Dale End<\/p>\n

A teenager was knifed just metres from the city centre spot where a boy was also stabbed a week earlier.<\/p>\n

Police and paramedics were called to the junction of High Street and Dale End<\/a> area of Birmingham city centre after a 17-year-old boy was attacked just after 6pm yesterday, Sunday, October 12.<\/p>\n

He suffered serious knife wounds and was given advanced trauma care at the scene before being rushed to hospital.<\/p>\n

Several major shops and the main walkway were inside a cordon on Monday morning as forensics officers combed the area and collected CCTV.<\/p>\n

The attack happened a week after another 17-year-old was knifed<\/a> close by after a fight involving up to ten men broke out<\/a> close to the entrance to the Bullring shopping centre.<\/p>\n

The boy was knifed in the arm after trouble broke out at 5pm on October 6.<\/p>\n

Today, Monday, October 13, pedestrians and workers spoke about youths gathering at the Dale End area with trouble breaking out.<\/p>\n

Mary Tanner, 68, said: “I’m trying to get to Primark<\/a> but I’ve been told to go around the other side.” She added: “It’s obviously terrible to see this right in the middle of town. What has the world come to?”<\/p>\n

University student Jason Warburton, 21, added: “This happens too often (in Birmingham<\/a> ). Something needs to be done about knife crime.”<\/p>\n

A worker in a health and beauty store told BirminghamLive: “We were closed and didn’t see anything. When we came into work today [the cordon] was already there.<\/p>\n

“There’s often trouble around here. I think the roadworks and the McDonald’s<\/a> closing down have stopped kids from congregating here as much, but it’s still not great. I don’t know why it happens.”<\/p>\n

West Midlands Police<\/a> said: “We currently have a scene in place in Birmingham city centre<\/a> following reports of a stabbing.<\/p>\n

“We were called to High Street, near Dale End, just after 6pm last night (12 October) to reports someone had been stabbed.<\/p>\n

“A boy, aged 17, was taken to hospital with potentially serious injuries.<\/p>\n

“Our investigation is at an early stage as officers work to establish exactly what happened.<\/p>\n

“A scene is likely to remain in place into the morning and we would ask people to avoid the area.<\/p>\n
