{"id":496263,"date":"2025-10-13T13:48:12","date_gmt":"2025-10-13T13:48:12","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/496263\/"},"modified":"2025-10-13T13:48:12","modified_gmt":"2025-10-13T13:48:12","slug":"banijay-revives-comedy-after-decade","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/496263\/","title":{"rendered":"Banijay Revives Comedy After Decade"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto     \">\n\tWill MacKenzie, Simon Cooper, Neil Sutherland, and Jay Cartwright are set for another round of misadventures.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto     \">\n\t<a href=\"https:\/\/deadline.com\/tag\/the-inbetweeners\/\" id=\"auto-tag_the-inbetweeners\" data-tag=\"the-inbetweeners\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">The Inbetweeners<\/a> is poised to return to the screen after more than a decade under a deal struck by <a href=\"https:\/\/deadline.com\/tag\/banijay\/\" id=\"auto-tag_banijay\" data-tag=\"banijay\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Banijay<\/a> UK and Fudge Park Productions.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto     \">\n\tBanijay did not disclose whether a film or TV series is in development from creators Iain Morris and Damon Beesley, though <a data-id=\"https:\/\/deadline.com\/2024\/08\/the-inbetweeners-star-joe-thomas-third-movie-las-vegas-1236072328\/\" data-type=\"link\" href=\"https:\/\/deadline.com\/2024\/08\/the-inbetweeners-star-joe-thomas-third-movie-las-vegas-1236072328\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">a movie in Las Vegas<\/a> has been teased. A stage iteration may also be considered.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto     \">\n\tThe Inbetweeners launched as a TV series on Channel 4\u2019s youth network E4 in 2008, with a second season airing two years later. Two movies followed in 2011 and 2014, both of which topped the UK box office.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto     \">\n\tIt was produced by Bwark Productions, originally founded by Morris and Beesley, which later sold to Zodiak Media, acquired by Banijay in 2016. The writers set up Fudge Park in 2015.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto     \">\n\t\u201cIncredibly exciting to be plotting more adventures for our four favourite friends (ooh friends),\u201d the duo commented. <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto     \">\n\tBanijay UK CEO Patrick Holland added: \u201cI have worked with Damon and Iain on a number of Fudge Park projects over the years and was delighted to pick up the conversation about the future of The Inbetweeners with them. They have an infectious creative vision for the brand which will resonate with audience old and new so I can\u2019t wait to get going.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto     \">\n\tIn August last year, The Inbetweeners actor Joe Thomas (Simon) said he and co-stars James Buckley (Jay), Simon Bird (Will), and Blake Harrison (Neil) would consider reuniting for a third movie.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto     \">\n\tHe told the\u00a0Always Be Comedy\u00a0podcast that the idea had been discussed in \u201cvarious forms and all of us feel like it would be nice.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto     \">\n\t\u201cWe\u2019re all still around, we\u2019re all still in each other\u2019s lives. We all still like each other. And if it was something that came up, I think we would want to do it,\u201d Thomas said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto     \">\n\tThomas said a stag do, also known as a bachelor party, could be the ideal vehicle for a reunion, adding that Las Vegas would be an interesting venue for the boys to reunite.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"Will MacKenzie, Simon Cooper, Neil Sutherland, and Jay Cartwright are set for another round of misadventures.
