Kevin Muscat, the former Ibrox defender, is reportedly being considered as a potential successor to Steven Gerrard<\/a> at Rangers, according to the Scottish Sun.<\/p>\n

Former Wolves hardman Muscat, who is currently managing Shanghai Port in the Chinese Super League, is said to be admired by the Light Blues hierarchy, despite the fact that he may not be immediately available.<\/p>\n

The club’s leadership, Andrew Cavenagh and Paraag Marathe, are under pressure to make a wise decision following the unsuccessful tenure of previous manager Russell Martin, which ended after just seven league games.<\/p>\n

Rangers have only managed one league win from seven games so far this season and are trailing behind both Celtic and Hearts.<\/p>\n

Their next match is against Dundee United on Saturday, with a Premier Sports Cup semi-final against Brendan Rodgers’ side at Hampden Park looming in the coming weeks, reports the Daily Record<\/a>.<\/p>\n

There are also Europa League<\/a> fixtures to contend with before the November break.<\/p>\n

Muscat, 52, has managed teams such as Yokohama F.
