Special police powers are in place in Birmingham city centre after a 17-year-old was stabbed and left with serious injuries in High Street<\/p>\n

Police are looking to find a group involved in a Birmingham city centre<\/a> stabbing which left a teenager with \u2018serious injuries\u2019.<\/p>\n

West Midlands Police<\/a> has said it is stepping up its investigation into a stabbing in High Street, near Dale End, which took place around 6pm on Sunday (October 12), leaving a teenager badly hurt.<\/p>\n

Emergency services were called to the heart of the city at around 6pm on Sunday (October 12) night.<\/p>\n

The ambulance service sent an ambulance, a paramedic officer, a MERIT (Medical Emergency Response Intervention Team) trauma doctor a critical care paramedic and a critical care car to the scene.<\/p>\n

They gave a 17-year-old \u2018advanced trauma care\u2019 at the scene before he was then rushed to hospital.<\/p>\n

A spokesperson for West Midlands Ambulance Service<\/a> : “We were called at around 6pm to reports of a stabbing on High Street, Birmingham<\/a> on Sunday.<\/p>\n

“Upon arrival, we found one male patient who was assessed and had sustained serious injuries.<\/p>\n

\u201cHe received advanced trauma care at the scene before being conveyed to hospital for further treatment.\u201d<\/p>\n

West Midlands Police cordoned off the area with a large taped off area remaining on Monday (October 13) morning.<\/p>\n

While that cordon has been removed, a dispersal order is in place for the area, allowing police to move any groups on.<\/p>\n

Police had initially said their officers were called to reports of a stabbing in High Street.<\/p>\n

A spokesperson said: \u201cA boy, aged 17, was taken to hospital with potentially serious injuries.<\/p>\n

\u201cOur investigation is at an early stage as officers work to establish exactly what happened.\u201d<\/p>\n

But now the West Midlands force has provided more information in its investigation.<\/p>\n

It has now said officers believe a group was involved in the stabbing.<\/p>\n

And it is urging anyone around the area that may have witnessed something to come forward.<\/p>\n

It has also said the boy\u2019s condition is said to be \u2018stable\u2019.<\/p>\n

A spokesperson for the force said: \u201cOur investigation is continuing after a stabbing in Birmingham last night (October 12).<\/p>\n

\u201cWe were called to the High Street just after 6pm, to reports a boy, aged 17, had been hurt.<\/p>\n

\u201cHe was taken to hospital where he remains in a stable condition.<\/p>\n

\u201cLocal officers are in the area, and we would urge anyone with concerns to speak to us.<\/p>\n

\u201cOur investigation is progressing, and we are reviewing CCTV and speaking to witnesses.<\/p>\n

\u201cAt this stage, we believe a group of people may have been involved in the incident, and we are working hard to establish exactly what happened.\u201d<\/p>\n

The statement continued: \u201cA dispersal order will be in place until Wednesday (15 October), allowing us to move on people we believe are contributing to anti-social behaviour or crime.<\/p>\n
