On-loan Leeds United man Isaac Schmidt suffered an injury scare whilst on international duty with Switzerland, prompting fears at his parent club Werder Bremen. <\/strong><\/p>\n

Isaac Schmidt<\/a> was one of the players to leave Leeds in the summer transfer window after finding his playing time limited under Daniel Farke<\/a>. <\/p>\n

Swiss international Schmidt joined Werder Bremen<\/a> on a season-long loan, joining fellow Leeds defender Max Wober<\/a> at the club. <\/p>\n

Schmidt has quickly settled into life<\/a> in Bremen and has expressed his desire to remain in Germany when his loan deal ends. However, Schmidt was forced to leave camp<\/a> with Switzerland early ahead of their game against Jaka Bijol\u2019s Slovenia<\/a> after picking up an injury. <\/p>\n

However, Bremen have moved quickly to downplay that Schmidt faces a long-term absence, as he looks to earn a permanent move away from Leeds this season. <\/p>\n

Bremen confirmed that Schmidt had sustained a foot injury in training in an official statement<\/a>, but stopped short of revealing his expected recovery timeframe. <\/p>\n

Now, Bremen boss Peter Niemeyer has moved to dispel concerns that Schmidt faces a long spell on the sidelines, in a boost to the German side. <\/p>\n

Speaking in an interview with German publication Bild<\/a>, Niemeyer confirmed that Schmidt could still recover in time to take part in Bremen\u2019s game this weekend. <\/p>\n

Niemeyer said: \u201cFortunately, Isaac isn\u2019t at risk of a long-term injury. He suffered a knock. We\u2019re now taking it day by day to see whether he\u2019ll be fit for the weekend or not.\u201d<\/p>\n

The news is a welcome relief for both the player and Leeds, whose hopes of offloading Schmidt permanently in the summer rest on him impressing in his loan spell. <\/p>\n

Overall, Schmidt has enjoyed an impressive start to life at Bremen since completing his loan move from Leeds at the end of the transfer window. <\/p>\n
