Apply now to live and work in Antarctica \u2013 Australian Antarctic Program (News 2025)"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Australian Antarctic Program\u2019s (AAP) recruitment campaign for the 2026\/27 season is officially open, <a href=\"https:\/\/jobs.antarctica.gov.au\/jobs-in-antarctica\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">featuring jobs across a range of trades and professions<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Successful applicants will become expeditioners in the Australian Antarctic Program and will help run Australia\u2019s three scientific research stations in Antarctica &#8211; Davis, Mawson and Casey, on sub-Antarctic Macquarie Island or on scientific voyages.<\/p>\n<p>The recruitment campaign offers the opportunity to live and work in a part of the world that few people ever get to see.<\/p>\n<p>Contracts are available from four months to 12+ months long across a range of roles, including electricians, carpenters, mechanics and chefs as well as specialists in science, aviation and information technology.<\/p>\n<p>Casey Station Leader Andy Warton said being a part of a tight knit Antarctic community is an incredible experience.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAntarctica tests you \u2014 physically, mentally, emotionally. But the rewards are incredible,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s a once in a lifetime adventure. You\u2019ll make friendships that last for decades, and you\u2019ll see and experience things that you would have never imagined.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe work is hard and the isolation takes some getting used to, but I feel an enormous amount of pride in being a part of Australia\u2019s Antarctic mission.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>AAD Director of Expeditioner Services Gina Woodward said the Australian Antarctic Program looks for applicants who are well suited to small community living, but are also technically proficient in their field.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThere\u2019s an extensive recruitment process to find the right candidates,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis is an opportunity that most people can only dream of, to become an Australian Antarctic expeditioner.
