Filming has been going strong all summer on A24 and Peacock\u2019s Friday the 13th<\/strong> prequel series \u201cCrystal Lake<\/strong>,\u201d and Deadline<\/a> reports this week that British company Sky<\/strong> has acquired the series for broadcast in the UK and Ireland. Why is this interesting to anyone who lives inside the United States? Deadline notes that Sky will premiere \u201cCrystal Lake\u201d in 2026, which essentially confirms that \u201cCrystal Lake\u201d will also be airing on Peacock in the U.S. next year!<\/p>\n

As for the Sky deal outside the United States, Deadline notes, \u201cThe deal covers the United Kingdom and Ireland and will see the series play on Sky and its streaming service, Now.\u201d<\/p>\n

Sky\u2019s Katie Keenan said in a statement, \u201cWe are so excited to bring Crystal Lake, the back storyline to the iconic\u00a0Friday the 13th\u00a0franchise. Snapping up this show demonstrates our commitment to bringing our customers the best US drama series from one of the hottest US studios. We are thrilled to be in partnership with A24 and Peacock on this project.\u201d<\/p>\n

Callum Vinson<\/strong>\u00a0is playing a young Jason Voorhees in the series, with\u00a0Linda Cardellini<\/strong>\u00a0starring as Mrs. Voorhees. The series will serve as an expanded prequel to the 1980 slasher.<\/p>\n

\u201cCrystal Lake\u201d also stars William Catlett<\/strong> (A Thousand and One, Constellation),\u00a0Devin Kessler<\/strong> (Godfather of Harlem),\u00a0Cameron Scoggins\u00a0<\/strong>(Shades of Blue, Nashville) and\u00a0Gwendolyn Sundstrom<\/strong>.\u00a0Nick Cordileone<\/strong> is Crazy Ralph, Danielle Kotch<\/strong> is Claudette, and Phoenix Parnevik<\/strong> is Barry, all characters from the original Friday the 13th movie.<\/p>\n

Nancy Nagrant<\/strong> will play Kay Christy, a relative of Steve Christy from Friday the 13th\u00a0(1980), while Joy Suprano\u00a0<\/strong>(Fleishman is in Trouble, Best Foot Forward) will also star.<\/p>\n

The eight-episode series is set to be directed by\u00a0Michael Lennox<\/strong>\u00a0(\u201cDerry Girls\u201d),\u00a0Celine Held<\/strong>\u00a0&\u00a0Logan George<\/strong>\u00a0(Caddo Lake), and\u00a0Quyen Tran<\/strong>\u00a0(\u201cThe Pitt\u201d).<\/p>\n

Brad Caleb Kane<\/strong> (It: Welcome to Derry) will be the project\u2019s showrunner.<\/p>\n
