{"id":497392,"date":"2025-10-13T23:58:20","date_gmt":"2025-10-13T23:58:20","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/497392\/"},"modified":"2025-10-13T23:58:20","modified_gmt":"2025-10-13T23:58:20","slug":"french-military-helicopter-flew-madagascars-president-to-france-report","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/497392\/","title":{"rendered":"French military helicopter flew Madagascar&#8217;s president to France: Report"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>ISTANBUL<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>A French military helicopter flew Madagascar\u2019s President Andry Rajoelina to France following an agreement between the Malagasy head of state and French President Emmanuel Macron, French radio RFI reported Monday.<\/p>\n<p>This came after Rajoelina\u2019s office said early on Monday that the president would address the nation at 7 pm local time (1600GMT), amid rumors of his flight to abroad.<\/p>\n<p>The youth-led protests that began on Sept. 25 over severe shortages of water and electricity, poverty, alleged corruption, called for Rajoelina\u2019s resignation.<\/p>\n<p>The unrest led to government reshuffles, including the dissolution of the Cabinet and appointment of a new prime minister.<\/p>\n<p>On Saturday, troops from the Army Personnel Administration Center (CAPSAT), a military unit instrumental in Rajoelina&#8217;s rise to power through a 2009 coup, declared its support for the protests.<\/p>\n<p>On Sunday, CAPSAT installed a new military chief, hours after Rajoelina denounced its support for the protests as \u201can attempt to seize power illegally.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Earlier today, the French embassy in Madagascar said on Monday that France has no military intervention underway or planned in the Indian Ocean island country amid ongoing anti-government protests.<\/p>\n<p>It denied the \u201cinterpretations that may have been drawn from\u201d the recent comments by Patrice Latron, prefect of Reunion island, a French overseas territory in the Indian Ocean.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThere are plans that can be triggered if something were to happen,\u201d Latron reportedly said earlier about the ongoing political crisis in Madagascar.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe are preparing for it, the Armed Forces of the South Indian Ocean Zone (FAZSOI) and the State service in Reunion,&#8221;
