The trial of five people accused of helping the murderers of Bristol teenagers Max Dixon and Mason Rist<\/a> after the attack will take place next month, a judge at Bristol Crown Court has confirmed. The five appeared at court today, Monday, October 13, for a final preliminary hearing.<\/p>\n All five have previously pleaded \u2018not guilty\u2019 to charges of assisting an offender in relation to the double murder, which took place in South Bristol at the end of January 2024<\/a>.<\/p>\n At Bristol Crown Court, Judge Peter Blair told all of them they had to return to court for a trial that is scheduled for four weeks, and will begin on November 17. The family of Mason Rist, one of the two teenagers stabbed to death outside Mason\u2019s home in Knowle West, <\/a>were in court to see the preliminary hearing.<\/p>\n Ellie Maddocks and Dominic Smith, a couple from Westbury-on-Trym, are charged with two counts of assisting an offender. It is alleged they allowed two of the five convicted of the double murders, Kodi Wescott and a 16-year-old who cannot be named for legal reasons, to stay at their home after the attack and then drove them to an address in Weston-super-Mare.<\/p>\n READ MORE: Max and Mason’s families take step to ensure teens have a positive legacy<\/a>READ MORE: The three lost boys – the murders that shone a light on failing Bristol<\/a><\/p>\n Marcus Williams, from Hartcliffe<\/a>, is charged with assisting Riley Tolliver, the eldest of the four teenagers convicted of murder last year, by driving him to Weston-super-Mare.<\/p>\n Another couple, Jillian Tolliver, from Hartcliffe, and Kristian Hooper, from Weston-super-Mare, have also been charged with assisting an offender in relation to those later convicted.<\/p>\n Five people were found guilty by a jury late last year of the double murders<\/a>. Best friends Max and Mason were stabbed to death outside Mason\u2019s home in Ilminster Avenue late in the evening of January 27.<\/p>\n Antony Snook, 45, Riley Tolliver, 18, Kodi Wescott, 17<\/a>, and two other teenagers who can\u2019t be named for legal reasons, were all jailed for life<\/a>, with a range of minimum terms to be served – from Snook\u2019s 38 years before he can apply for parole, to the 15-year-old\u2019s minimum of 15 years.<\/p>\n A week or so after the five were sentenced to life in prison for the attack, two other men were jailed for assisting an offender<\/a>.
