Prince Harry<\/a> and Meghan Markle<\/a> quit royal life five years ago; however, they are still a frequent topic of conversation. While they now live in California<\/a>, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex have stayed relevant in the UK by making a number of damaging revelations about the Royal Family<\/a> over the years, which has continued to help the couple receive global attention.<\/p>\n

However, while they continue to dominate headlines, one member of the Royal Family\u2019s hard work has often gone unnoticed as a result. This is the work of the Duchess of Edinburgh.<\/a><\/p>\n

Although she has shot up in popularity over recent years<\/a>, one biographer has claimed that her work was often lost among the Royal Family drama that continues to be ongoing.<\/p>\n

Speaking to GB News<\/a>, Sean Smith – who wrote the book Sophie: Saving the Royal Family – said: \u201cThe media has been and continues to be obsessed with the family drama involving Harry, Meghan, William, Kate and Charles. It\u2019s a soap opera.<\/p>\n

\u201c(Meanwhile) Sophie (has been) comforting women and children refugees.”<\/p>\n

The Duchess has spent many of her years as a royal since marrying Prince Edward in 1999, focusing on women and those who have tragically been involved in conflict-related sexual violence.<\/p>\n

This has seen the duchess make a number of overseas trips to affected areas, including Sierra Leone, South Sudan and the Democratic Republic of the Congo<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The Duchess also visited Ukraine last year<\/a>, which the Palace said was a continuation of the duchess\u2019 work to champion survivors of conflict-related sexual violence.<\/p>\n

While the duchess\u2019 important work may have gone slightly unnoticed before, it has been gaining much attention over the past few years, with the royal\u2019s popularity also increasing.<\/p>\n

A YouGov poll earlier this year saw the Duchess of Edinburgh, 60, ranked as the fifth most popular royal.<\/a><\/p>\n
