But next month, up to 400,000 eligible people will travel for free at any time of day, including night buses.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\" publication=\"men\">The decision comes after 44 foodbanks, organisations and charities in Greater Manchester called for a permanent extension of the scheme at the end of the first pilot scheme in August.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/10\/0_Bee-Network-Bus-Image-Tfgm.jpg\" alt=\"Hundreds of thousands of people can benefit from round-the-clock free bus travel.\" loading=\"lazy\"  \/>Hundreds of thousands of people can benefit from round-the-clock free bus travel.(Image: TfGM)<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\" publication=\"men\">Groups including Citizens Advice, Greater Manchester Disabled People\u2019s Panel, <a class=\"TextLink_text-link__dBSS0 TextLink_enabled__dJF3l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.manchestereveningnews.co.uk\/all-about\/manchester-central\" target=\"\" aria-label=\"\" tabindex=\"0\" rel=\"noopener\">Manchester Central<\/a> Foodbank, Manchester Deaf Centre, Transport for All, and the Trussell Trust sent an open letter to <a class=\"TextLink_text-link__dBSS0 TextLink_enabled__dJF3l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.manchestereveningnews.co.uk\/all-about\/andy-burnham\" target=\"\" aria-label=\"\" tabindex=\"0\" rel=\"noopener\">Andy Burnham<\/a> asking for the trial to be extended.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\" publication=\"men\">According to TfGM, people with free bus passes made more than 100,000 trips before 9.30am in August, helping them to get people to medical appointments, social events and retail opportunities.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\" publication=\"men\">Mayor of Greater Manchester, Andy Burnham, said: \u201cThe last trial in August was a brilliant success, which saw more than 100,000 journeys made by our older and disabled people before 9.30am.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\" publication=\"men\">\u201cWe are now carrying out this second trial, at a busier time of year, to see whether we can safely remove the restriction permanently and help our older and disabled people to get to work, go shopping and get to medical appointments such as at the GP.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/10\/0_7eaabeb3-09be-46f3-B30c-6f1c126a.jpg\" alt=\"Mayor Andy Burnham said the first trial was a 'brilliant success'. \" loading=\"lazy\"  \/>Mayor Andy Burnham said the first trial was a &#8216;brilliant success&#8217;.
