A MOTHER has revealed that she lost over four stone after using fat jabs for 22 weeks.\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

Cassie Jane Evans, a mum<\/a> from the UK<\/a>, slimmed down<\/a> from a size 24 to a size 18 thanks to Mounjaro<\/a>, but experts and NHS<\/a> medics warn about the dangers of taking such medications without a prescription.<\/p>\n

The brunette beauty<\/a> confirmed that she has shifted 64lbs [four stone 5 lbs] thanks to the weight-loss injections<\/a> – and that was without spending hours working out in the gym<\/a>.<\/p>\n

While Cassie claimed that she has no loose skin<\/a> after using Mounjaro<\/a>, which is regarded by some as the King Kong of weight loss jabs<\/a>, she did open up and share that she suffered with a somewhat grim side effect<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Sun GP<\/a> Dr Zoe Williams<\/a> claimed that Mounjaro, which could soon be rolled out on the NHS<\/a>, can save the lives of people with \u201clife-threatening levels of obesity<\/a>\u201d.<\/p>\n

But despite this, the NHS<\/a> warned: \u201cNever take an anti-obesity medicine if it has not been prescribed to you.<\/p>\n

“These types of medicines may not be safe for you and can cause serious side effects.\u201d<\/p>\n

About half a million Brits use weight loss drugs<\/a> – and the number is expected to double in the next year.<\/p>\n

Mounjaro works by suppressing \u00adyour appetite<\/a>, making people feel fuller for longer.<\/p>\n

The injections are licensed for patients with type 2 diabetes<\/a> and to assist those who are clinically obese (with a Body Mass Index<\/a> of 30 or over).<\/p>\n

One jab is administered each week but the duration is dependent on someone\u2019s weight.<\/p>\n

The drugs<\/a> can be lawfully supplied when prescribed by a practitioner – such as a doctor, nurse or a pharmacist-independent prescriber.<\/p>\n

But increasingly, people have been buying them through online pharmacies<\/a> with insufficient checks.<\/p>\n

Only recently, figures from the Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency revealed fat jabs had been linked to 82 deaths across the UK<\/a>.<\/p>\n

And the family of a man from Burton upon Trent, Staffs, who died after taking Mounjaro, are now calling for a probe into the jab’s “potential to kill”<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Despite the dangers, this woman eagerly praised the effects of the fat jabs<\/a> on her body<\/a>.\u00a0<\/p>\n

In a short clip which was captioned \u2018First pic was the first week I started Mounjaro<\/a>, second pic is this week after losing four stone!\u2019, Cassie shared her jaw-dropping glow-up transformation, leaving many totally stunned.<\/p>\n

During the video, Cassie compared pictures of herself before and after losing weight and penned: \u201cYes I have a tummy and I\u2019m bigger in some places but I\u2019ve had a baby<\/a> and I\u2019ve abused my body<\/a> for years with unhealthy habits! This is just the start for me, so proud of myself for how far I’ve come.\u201d<\/p>\n

Thanks to Mounjaro, Cassie is now \u201cshocked\u201d at how much her face has changed in 22 weeks.<\/p>\n

When it came to side effects, while many have reported feeling bloated<\/a> and experiencing diarrhoea<\/a>, Cassie stressed that she has had \u201cmild nausea<\/a>\u201d.<\/p>\n

Despite this, she acknowledged that starting Mounjaro has been \u201clife changing\u201d and revealed: “I’ve not got any loose skin as of yet.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n

Whilst using the jabs, Cassie explained that she has done \u201cvery light exercise\u201d, but is on her feet all day with her job<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Despite this, she reinforced that \u201cfood<\/a> plays a huge part of it\u201d and highlighted that she has been able to cut back on food costs<\/a> whilst using the fat jabs, as she beamed: \u201cIt\u2019s not cheap<\/a> but the amount of money<\/a> I have saved on takeaways<\/a> pays for it!\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n

Weight loss jabs are all the rage as studies and patient stories reveal they help people shed flab at almost unbelievable rates, as well as appearing to reduce the risk of serious diseases.<\/p>\n

Wegovy \u2013 a modified version of type 2 diabetes drug Ozempic \u2013 and Mounjaro are the leading weight loss injections used in the UK.<\/p>\n

Wegovy, real name semaglutide, has been used on the NHS for years while Mounjaro (tirzepatide) is a newer and more powerful addition to the market. <\/p>\n

Mounjaro accounts for most private prescriptions for weight loss and is set to join Wegovy as an NHS staple this year.<\/p>\n

How do they work?<\/strong><\/p>\n

The jabs work by suppressing your appetite, making you eat less so your body burns fat for energy instead and you lose weight.<\/p>\n

They do this my mimicking a hormone called GLP-1, which signals to the brain when the stomach is full, so the drugs are officially called GLP-1 receptor agonists.<\/p>\n

They slow down digestion and increase insulin production, lowering blood sugar, which is why they were first developed to treat type 2 diabetes in which patients’ sugar levels are too high.<\/p>\n

Can I get them?<\/strong><\/p>\n

NHS prescriptions of weight loss drugs, mainly Wegovy and an older version called Saxenda (chemical name liraglutide), are controlled through specialist weight loss clinics.<\/p>\n

Typically a patient will have to have a body mass index (BMI) of 30 or higher, classifying them as medically obese, and also have a weight-related health condition such as high blood pressure.<\/p>\n

GPs generally do not prescribe the drugs for weight loss.<\/p>\n

Private prescribers offer the jabs, most commonly Mounjaro, to anyone who is obese (BMI of 30+) or overweight (BMI 25-30) with a weight-related health risk.<\/p>\n

Private pharmacies have been rapped for handing them out too easily and video calls or face-to-face appointments are now mandatory to check a patient is being truthful about their size and health.<\/p>\n

Are there any risks?<\/strong><\/p>\n

Yes \u2013 side effects are common but most are relatively mild.<\/p>\n

Around half of people taking the drug experience gut issues, including sickness, bloating, acid reflux, constipation and diarrhoea.<\/p>\n

Dr Sarah Jarvis, GP and clinical consultant at patient.info, said: \u201cOne of the more uncommon side effects is severe acute pancreatitis, which is extremely painful and happens to one in 500 people.\u201d<\/p>\n

Other uncommon side effects include altered taste, kidney problems, allergic reactions, gallbladder problems and hypoglycemia.<\/p>\n

Evidence has so far been inconclusive about whether the injections are damaging to patients’ mental health.<\/p>\n

Figures obtained by The Sun show that, up to January 2025, 85 patient deaths in the UK were suspected to be linked to the medicines.<\/p>\n

What are the other side effects of weight loss jabs?<\/p>\n

Like any medication, weight loss jabs can have side effects. <\/p>\n

Common side effects of injections such as Ozempic include: <\/p>\n

Nausea<\/strong>: This is the most commonly reported side effect, especially when first starting the medication. It often decreases over time as your body adjusts.<\/p>\n

Vomiting<\/strong>: Can occur, often in conjunction with nausea.<\/p>\n

Diarrhea<\/strong>: Some people experience gastrointestinal upset.<\/p>\n

Constipation<\/strong>: Some individuals may also experience constipation.<\/p>\n

Stomach pain or discomfort<\/strong>: Some people may experience abdominal pain or discomfort.<\/p>\n

Reduced appetite<\/strong>: This is often a desired effect for people using Ozempic for weight loss.<\/p>\n

Indigestion<\/strong>: Can cause a feeling of bloating or discomfort after eating.<\/p>\n

Serious side effects can also include:<\/p>\n

Pancreatitis<\/strong>: In rare cases, Ozempic may increase the risk of inflammation of the pancreas, known as pancreatitis, which can cause severe stomach pain, nausea, and vomiting.<\/p>\n

Kidney problems<\/strong>: There have been reports of kidney issues, including kidney failure, though this is uncommon.<\/p>\n

Thyroid tumors<\/strong>: There\u2019s a potential increased risk of thyroid cancer, although this risk is based on animal studies. It is not confirmed in humans, but people with a history of thyroid cancer should avoid Ozempic.<\/p>\n

Vision problems<\/strong>: Rapid changes in blood sugar levels may affect vision, and some people have reported blurry vision when taking Ozempic.<\/p>\n

Hypoglycemia (low blood sugar)<\/strong>: Especially if used with other medications like sulfonylureas or insulin.<\/p>\n
