The PSNI were called to the scene of a death in Newtownabbey on Sunday.<\/a><\/p>\n

The body of a woman in her 20s was discovered inside a flat on Old Mill Drive. <\/p>\n

The woman was later named locally as Mary McAdorey, who was a young mum of two. <\/p>\n

Police<\/a> were called to the incident at a home in the Old Mill Drive area of Newtownabbey on Sunday, October 12.<\/p>\n

Later, they arrested a 40-year-old man on suspicion of murder. <\/p>\n

\u201cDetectives investigating a report of a suspicious death in the Old Mill Drive area of Newtownabbey have this evening, Sunday, October 12, made an arrest,\u201d a PSNI spokesperson said.<\/p>\n

However, following a post-mortem examination, officers revealed the death was not being treated as a murder. The 40-year-old man arrested in connection with the death of a woman in Co Antrim was released on bail on Monday evening.<\/p>\n

Detective Chief Inspector Tom Phillips, of the Major Investigation Team, said: \u201cMy thoughts are, first and foremost, with the woman\u2019s family who are left trying to come to terms with the loss of their loved one.<\/p>\n

\u201cFollowing a post-mortem examination, the woman\u2019s death is not being treated as murder at this time.\u201d<\/p>\n

Cordons, and a police presence, remained in place late on Monday evening.<\/p>\n

Community in shock <\/p>\n

Ms McAdorey\u2019s death has left her surrounding community in shock. <\/p>\n

Locals said the area is a quiet street which is occupied by mostly elderly people. <\/p>\n

The mum of two children who are understood to be of primary school age, was from the local area and had previously attended Hazelwood Integrated College.<\/p>\n

Sinn F\u00e9in councillor Taylor McGrann said he attended the same school as Ms McAdorey and knows her family. <\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s absolutely tragic circumstances,\u201d Cllr McGrann said.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe whole community is in shock, and my thoughts are with the family and friends of the person involved.<\/p>\n

\u201cI grew up in the area, and she would be around the same age as myself. I would know her family, it\u2019s just awful.<\/p>\n

\u201cEveryone is in complete shock; it\u2019s not something you expect to happen in your community.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s probably one of the quietest streets in the Greencastle area, there is a lot of elderly people live here, a lot of bungalows, people with disabilities, it\u2019s quite quiet.\u201d<\/p>\n

What is happening now?<\/p>\n

Police are still working to establish the cause of Ms McAdorey\u2019s death.<\/p>\n
