A pub has closed doors as it prepares to undergo a significant transformation. The Old Duke<\/a>, Southport, has received a \u00a3350,000 investment that will revitalise the venue’s aesthetics ahead of a reopening next month.<\/p>\n The Old Duke<\/a> was a recent winner of the Great British Pub Awards 2025, claiming the title of ‘Best Pub for Dogs<\/a>‘. The team at the Marston’s Pub were celebrated for going the extra mile to make canine companions feel just as at home as their humans.<\/p>\n The venue will be closed until November 5 when renovations are complete. The makeover will feature two distinct areas: a vibrant locals’ bar and a family lounge.<\/p>\n The dedicated family lounge has been designed to cater to all ages and provide a welcoming space for the whole family. The renovation will also see the creation of a brand-new bar area, designed as a space for locals to enjoy a pint and a bite to eat.<\/p>\n The new-look pub will see the addition of new TNT and Sky Sports screens, showing all the latest fixtures, as well as local live entertainment, family events and monthly quizzes, as part of an upcoming calendar of events.<\/p>\n Located in Southport<\/a> on a retail park, The Old Duke sits just over two miles from the seafront, approximately a 25-30 minute walk or a short drive to the beach.<\/p>\n General Manager, Heather Porter, said: “We\u2019re thrilled to share the news about the transformation of The Old Duke, creating a welcoming space for our community to enjoy for any occasion.<\/p>\n “From grabbing a quick drink at the bar to catching up with friends, or savouring a family meal together, there\u2019s truly something for everyone!”<\/p>\n With over 1,600 pubs and bars across England, Scotland, and Wales, Marston\u2019s venues range from traditional locals and family-friendly pubs to timeless country settings, offering shared good times for everyone.<\/p>\n Marston’s Pub group has completed similar renovations on several Merseyside pubs over the past few months.
