EastEnders fans think they\u2019ve \u2018worked out\u2019 how a Netflix series inspired \u2018amazing\u2019 Joel Marshall scenes on the BBC<\/a> soap.<\/p>\n Viewers were left stunned on Monday night (October 14) when Max Murrary\u2019s character faced consequences for his attack on Vicki Fowler<\/a> sooner than anyone anticipated.<\/p>\n Joel punched his dad Ross Marshall\u2019s girlfriend Vicki to the ground and filmed her struggling to get up after she called him out for showing his classmates an explicit video.<\/p>\n Despite Tommy Moon agreeing to hide him in the Slaters\u2019 garage, not knowing what Joel did, it wasn\u2019t long before the truth emerged.<\/p>\n Shortly after learning Vicki suffered a collapsed lung and a broken arm, Ross discovered the video Joel took of the incident on his laptop.<\/p>\n With Joel getting arrested<\/a> in front of the Walford residents, scenes aired on Tuesday night (October 15) featured lots of development in the storyline.<\/p>\n Tensions simmered between Vicki and Ross as they discussed Joel, with the latter expressing his difficulty at trying to understand why he attacked Vicki, who said the warning signs were there.<\/p>\n Things got even more complicated for Ross when Julie Bates, who is acting as Joel\u2019s Appropriate Adult, called and said Joel wanted to see him.<\/p>\n At the station, Jack Branning allowed Ross to watch a live feed of Joel\u2019s police interview where he insisted what happened was an accident.<\/p>\n However, when the Detective brought up a video of Vicki unconscious, Joel realised his dad betrayed him and shouted that he wished \u2018he was dead\u2019.<\/p>\n Fans watching the episode quickly took to social media to express why they believe the style in which the episode was shot was inspired by Adolescence, the Stephen Graham Netflix series <\/a>which explores similar issues affecting teenagers and parents.<\/p>\n @CelestialNelly said on X: \u201cThis scene where Ross is watching Joel be questioned by the police was very very parallel to adolescence. #EastEnders<\/a>.\u201d @chattyreality added: \u201cI know the joel storyline was conceived before adolescence came out, but I really think they took inspiration while filming the interrogation scene #EastEnders.\u201d<\/p>\n @iMallyUK wrote: \u201cThis episode was a little bit Adolescent-esqe but the character that plays Joel is a good actor NGL. #EastEnders.\u201d @TonyCoffey15 posted: \u201cAll the soaps are churning out there poorly written versions of adolescence, Steven Graham has already done it perfectly.#Eastenders.\u201d<\/p>\n @terrettcorey commented: \u201c#Eastenders is so good right now.
