{"id":500968,"date":"2025-10-15T08:05:16","date_gmt":"2025-10-15T08:05:16","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/500968\/"},"modified":"2025-10-15T08:05:16","modified_gmt":"2025-10-15T08:05:16","slug":"aston-martin-denies-alonso-f1-retirement-talks-for-2027","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/500968\/","title":{"rendered":"Aston Martin denies Alonso F1 retirement talks for 2027"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Aston Martin team principal Andy Cowell says he\u2019s heard nothing from <a href=\"https:\/\/www.autosport.com\/driver\/fernando-alonso\/829156\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Fernando Alonso<\/a> regarding a potential plan to retire from Formula 1 at the end of the 2026 season.<\/p>\n<p>Alonso is a two-time F1 world champion and the most experienced F1 driver in history with 419 grand prix starts, but has been on a 218-round winless streak.<\/p>\n<p>The 44-year-old has been thinking about his future and, against all expectations, told Spanish newspaper AS that a poor Aston Martin car in 2026 would spur him to keep going even longer.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI know it\u2019s my last chance,\u201d Alonso said about F1\u2019s new technical era next year, with revamped chassis and engine regulations. \u201cIf the car is weak, I might go one more year just to end on a positive note. If the car is strong, 2026 will probably be my last year.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Cowell has however clarified to Autosport that no such talks have taken place yet with the Spanish veteran within the Aston Martin squad.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI&#8217;ve not had any conversations with him about that,\u201d Cowell said. \u201cHis conversations with me over the past year have been all focused on 2026. Age doesn&#8217;t seem to be an issue for him.
