A family member of one of the children struck by a vehicle trailer<\/a> in Dumfries<\/a> as revealed the shocking extent of their injuries.<\/p>\n The horrific incident occurred when a loose trailer flew off the road and struck a pram on pavement<\/a> on Monday afternoon.<\/p>\n An eight month old baby and 14 and 18-month-old toddlers<\/a> were inside the buggy being pushed by a young nursery worker.<\/p>\n The children and 18-year-old female nursery employee were all rushed to hospital.<\/a><\/p>\n A relative of one of the injured children shared on social media that his grandson suffered serious injuries.<\/p>\n He said: “My grandson was in the accident. He’s in hospital in Glasgow.<\/p>\n “His injuries are serious. He suffered a broken leg, bad lacerations to his face and a tear in his spleen.<\/p>\n “The young lady who was looking after them was injured as well.”<\/p>\n He also revealed that another child suffered a serious head injury.<\/p>\n Eyewitnesses Charlie Jones and Andrew Clarke, both 19, were on a camping trip in Scotland when the crash unfolded.<\/p>\n The teenagers, who were on their way home to Cheshire, were first responders on the scene.<\/a><\/p>\n Charlie said: “It was the worst thing I\u2019ve ever seen. It was very traumatic.<\/p>\n “Andrew was driving and we turned onto the road and saw a trailer on the pavement in a wall and a girl lying on the ground holding a baby.<\/p>\n “We stopped the car and got out. The girl was screaming for us to call the police, pointing over to a pram.<\/p>\n \u201cAndrew phoned 999 and I ran over and saw the pram trapped between the wall and trailer. I helped another two men pull the trailer away.<\/p>\n \u201cOne child was standing screaming and two babies were in the pram. One looked as though it had a cut above the eye but the other baby was seriously injured.<\/p>\n “An off-duty fireman and a local woman called Sharon stopped to help us.<\/p>\n “She was amazing and took control of the situation while we waited for emergency services.<\/p>\n “Staff from a local nursery also arrived with first aid kits.<\/p>\n “I ripped my T-shirt off to give to Sharon to help stem the blood flow from one of the children’s injuries.<\/p>\n “The children were screaming. It was horrific. We’ve been praying for everyone involved.”<\/p>\n Paramedics and fire crews descended on the scene on Pleasance Avenue with police officers working to close the road<\/a> to allow an investigation to take place.<\/p>\n Charlie and Andrew left Dumfries around two hours later after giving statements to officers. Charlie added: \u201cNeighbours were bringing out towels as well as cups of tea. Everybody there just wanted to help do what they could. \u201cIt was the worst thing I\u2019ve ever seen.\u201d<\/p>\n The baby and two toddlers were taken to Dumfries and Galloway Royal Infirmar<\/a>y before being transferred to the Royal Hospital for Children in Glasgow.<\/p>\n![](\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/10\/0_0.jpg\")
