And it seems that change may be starting at home.

In a new documentary, insiders say that George, Charlotte and Louis are enjoying a more “normal” upbringing and are being raised as equals, reports the Daily Mail. Ailsa Anderson, former press secretary to Queen Elizabeth II, noted that the kids will have more “freedom and choice than their father had”.

The change to the rule of succession is also likely to keep the siblings on better terms as they grow up, insiders say. Previously, Louis would have been second in line to the throne ahead of his older sister Charlotte, simply because he’s a boy. This primogeniture tradition, which sidelined Anne and left Andrew as Charles’ spare, ended in 2013.

Historian Dr. Nige Fletcher says in the doc: “For the first time in British history, the spare is a princess, even though she has a younger brother. Princess Charlotte is in line after George, after a change in the law, and she now outranks her brother, Louis.”

According to historian and royal biographer Tom Quinn, this will help avoid the type of fallout that has occurred between William and Harry. He says: “It will make things a lot easier because there won’t be two males like two deer clashing antlers anymore.”

TELL US – WHAT WILL THE BRITISH MONARCHY LOOK LIKE IN 30 YEARS’ TIME?

The Wales kids will have a much more down to earth upbringing than those before them.
