Ryan Reynolds has been discussing the role he and Rob McElhenney play in Welcome to Wrexham.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Welcome to Wrexham<\/a> has taken the world by storm since it his aired on Disney+, FX, and Hulu.<\/p>\n

Following their takeover of Wrexham<\/a> in February 2021, Ryan Reynolds<\/a> and Rob McElhenney<\/a> quickly set about trying to grow the club\u2019s profile.<\/p>\n

One of the main driving forces behind this, as well as some interesting TikTioks, was the launching of a documentary series.<\/p>\n

McElhenney was inspired by Sunderland<\/a> and their Netflix docuseries \u2018Sunderland Till I Die\u2019, so it\u2019s not surprising that the North American duo wanted to launch their own version.<\/p>\n

Welcome to Wrexham has since seen the Red Dragons expand their fanbase massively, pulling in fresh eyes from all around the globe.<\/p>\n

Wrexham will tour Australia<\/a> during their 2025 pre-season \u2013 something that obviously would not have happened pre-takeover.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, Reynolds and McElhenney have been praised<\/a> for the impact the duo have had on the town.<\/p>\n

Now, the former has been discussing Welcome to Wrexham and the role he and Rob play in it.<\/p>\n

The series has given new and old fans a detailed look into the lives of players, the town, and much more.<\/p>\n

But Reynolds, speaking to TIME, has now shared that he and McElhenney only appear in the documentary when they need to explain something. <\/p>\n

He stated: \u201cI treat it like a church, and I respect it. We really aren\u2019t pulling them into our story \u2013 we just wanted to be a part of theirs. That\u2019s why, if you watch the show, we\u2019re only there if we need to explain something.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/p>\n

Why Welcome to Wrexham is so successful<\/p>\n

Welcome to Wrexham Season 4\u2019s release date<\/a> was announced earlier this month.<\/p>\n

Reynolds sent a message<\/a> after it was confirmed that the show will return to our screens on May 15, 2025.<\/p>\n

It will be available on Disney+, FX, and Hulu, depending on where in the world you are watching from.<\/p>\n

It\u2019s expected to be a huge season, documenting the club\u2019s battle to secure League One promotion, and Reynolds has also spoken about why Welcome to Wrexham is so successful<\/a> this week.<\/p>\n

He said: \u201cWhy it works so well is because the football club and the community, they\u2019re one. <\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s the third oldest football club on earth, it plays in the oldest international stadium, and it\u2019s like a church.
