An investigation is underway after a man was struck in the head with an axe.<\/p>\n

The victim was treated for a serious injuries by paramedics near Grange Farm Drive, Kings Norton, at around 4.50pm yesterday, Wednesday, October 15, before he was taken to hospital.<\/p>\n

West Midlands Police<\/a> cordoned off the road and arrested a 36-year-old man on suspicion of wounding with intent.<\/p>\n

The casualty’s injuries were not said to be life-threatening. Officers were conducting door-to-door enquiries and collecting CCTV.<\/p>\n

The force said: “We have arrested a man after being called to reports of an attack involving a man with an axe in the area of West Heath Park, near Grange Farm Drive, Birmingham<\/a> at around 4.50pm yesterday.<\/p>\n

“Officers attended and found a man in his 30s with a serious injury to his head. He was treated at the scene before being taken to hospital where his condition today is believed to not be life-threatening.<\/p>\n

“A man, aged 36, was arrested on suspicion of wounding with intent and he remains in police custody today as enquiries continue.<\/p>\n

“House-to-house enquiries have been carried out with CCTV also being retrieved and reviewed as we work to establish the circumstances.<\/p>\n

“Neighbourhood officers also remain on patrol in the area today to offer reassurance to the local community.”<\/p>\n

West Midlands Ambulance Service<\/a> said: “We were called to an incident on Grange Farm Road in Kings Norton at 5.02pm, yesterday, and sent an ambulance to the scene.<\/p>\n

“On arrival, crews found a man who they treated for serious injuries before conveying him under emergency driving conditions to hospital.”<\/p>\n
