{"id":504622,"date":"2025-10-16T16:53:12","date_gmt":"2025-10-16T16:53:12","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/504622\/"},"modified":"2025-10-16T16:53:12","modified_gmt":"2025-10-16T16:53:12","slug":"putin-accuses-certain-western-elites-of-artificially-disrupting-global-energy-system","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/504622\/","title":{"rendered":"Putin accuses \u2018certain Western elites\u2019 of artificially disrupting global energy system"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>ISTANBUL\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Russian President Vladimir Putin on Thursday accused \u201ccertain Western elites\u201d of artificially disrupting the global energy system.<\/p>\n<p>Speaking at the plenary session of the 8th Russian Energy Week international forum in Moscow, Putin expressed Russia\u2019s perspective on challenges facing the global and Russian fuel and energy sectors, one of which he said is the restructuring of global energy relations.<\/p>\n<p>Putin described it to be a \u201cnatural and objective process\u201d in many ways amid the emergence of new centers of economic growth and an increase in energy consumption in those centers.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAt the same time, we are also witnessing an artificial disruption of the energy system, driven by the aggressive and assertive actions of certain Western elites,\u201d said Putin.<\/p>\n<p>He said many European countries have refused to purchase Russian energy supplies \u201cunder political pressure,\u201d the repercussions of which, he argued, are evident within the EU, including through a \u201cdecline in industrial output, rising prices due to more expensive imported oil and gas, and a reduction in the competitiveness of both European goods and the broader economy.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The Russian president said energy supply chains are undergoing a transformation, with logistics increasingly shifting toward the Global South, namely in the direction of countries in the Asia-Pacific, Africa and Latin America regions.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis shift involves more reliable routes, the development of new hubs and ports designed to meet both current and future demands of energy consumers,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>Putin also said Russia maintains its position as a leading oil producer \u201cdespite the mechanisms of unfair competition\u201d used against it, expressing that Moscow accounts for about 10% of global oil production and expects to produce 510 million tons of oil this year.<\/p>\n<p>He went on to highlight Russia\u2019s energy balance as \u201cone of the greenest in the world,\u201d saying 87% of the country\u2019s energy production has a low or zero carbon footprint.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cRussia is the only country in the world with competencies across the entire chain of nuclear generation,\u201d he said, noting that it is involved in the construction of nuclear power plants in Bangladesh, Egypt and T\u00fcrkiye.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe intend to further develop our cooperation in the nuclear industry with Global South countries and within BRICS.
