Jack Draper<\/a> has parted ways with his coach of four years, James Trotman. Under Trotman\u2019s tutelage, Draper won three ATP Tour<\/a> titles, including Indian Wells, made it to the semi-finals of the 2024 US Open<\/a>, and reached No. 4 in the world. But the British tennis coach has decided to step back to prioritise his family.<\/p>\n

Draper was forced to end his 2025 season early due to an arm injury. The British No. 1 played just one official match after Wimbledon<\/a>, reaching the second round of the US Open before pulling out of the tournament. He appointed Andy Murray<\/a>‘s former coach, Jamie Delgado, just nine days ago<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Earlier this month, it emerged that Jamie Delgado, the former coach of Murray<\/a> and Grigor Dimitrov, had joined Draper\u2019s camp.<\/p>\n

Delgado had already been tipped to spend the majority of weeks on tour with Draper, though there was still expected to be a place for Trotman in the camp.<\/p>\n

However, Trotman, who has two young children, does not feel that he can give the world No. 9 what he needs while spending more time with his own family. But he will always be seen as a part of the team, and Draper expressed his gratitude for his long-time coach.<\/p>\n

The Brit is expected to return to competition at the UTS London event in December, with Delgado as his head coach. Draper won the Patrick Mouratoglou-founded tournament in 2023, before going on to lift his first two ATP Tour titles the following year.<\/p>\n

Delgado spent five years with Murray, joining his team in May 2016. Murray went on to have the best season of his career, winning Wimbledon<\/a> for the second time, defending his Olympic<\/a> gold medal in singles, and ending the year as the world No. 1.<\/p>\n

The British coach recently spent three years working with former world No. 3 Dimitrov. During their time together, Dimitrov won his first title in more than six years at the Brisbane International, reached two Masters 1000 finals, and returned to the world\u2019s top 10.<\/p>\n

But Dimitrov picked up a horror injury at Wimbledon<\/a> this summer while leading top seed Jannik Sinner<\/a> by two sets to love in the fourth round. The Bulgarian retired in tears and has not played a match since. He parted ways with Delgado last month.<\/p>\n

Delgado isn\u2019t the only former Murray team member to join Draper\u2019s camp. The British No. 1 hired Shane Annun and Matt Little, Murray\u2019s former physio and fitness coach, earlier this season.<\/p>\n

Draper has been hard at work in the gym at the National Tennis Centre in recent weeks and recently had a brief stint training in the Algarve.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"Jack Draper has parted ways with his coach of four years, James Trotman.
