Workers at Turners (Soham) Limited based at Grangemouth deliver fuel to Glasgow<\/a> and Edinburgh<\/a> airports<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Talks between union chiefs at Unite and Turners \u2013 through conciliation service Acas \u2013 broke down.<\/p>\n

Staff were up in arms over a one per cent pay rise offered by bosses.<\/p>\n

Unite also claim they offered \u201cmarginal improvements\u201d on working conditions.<\/p>\n

Drivers will start their strike<\/a> tomorrow morning at 2.45am and plan to strike until 11.59pm on October 21.<\/p>\n

Reps say the industrial action will \u201csignificantly\u201d hit fuel supplies at both Glasgow and Edinburgh.<\/p>\n

Unite general secretary, Sharon Graham, said:\u00a0\u201cTurners is driving<\/a> our members towards strike action by its continual refusal to improve upon what is a miserly pay offer from a very profitable company. <\/p>\n

\u201cWe will fully support our members in their fight<\/a> to secure better jobs<\/a>, pay and conditions.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n

Unite industrial officer, Lyn Turner, said:\u00a0\u201cUnite has tried to engage with Turners to bring this dispute to a positive conclusion. <\/p>\n

\u201cUnfortunately, the company is intent on escalating this pay dispute to the point where strike action will now be inevitable due to its penny-pinching.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u201cWe are in no doubt that if these Grangemouth based tanker drivers are forced to take strike action, then it will\u00a0significantly\u00a0hit fuel supplies to airlines at\u00a0Edinburgh\u00a0and\u00a0Glasgow airports.\u201d \u00a0<\/p>\n

Turners (Soham) Ltd, Glasgow Airport have all been approached for comment.<\/p>\n

Edinburgh Airport declined to comment.<\/p>\n
