Adding ghee isn\u2019t just about flavour it also helps your body absorb fat-soluble vitamins like D, A, K and E. Plus, other fatty acids in ghee may encourage your gut microbiota to produce more SCFAs to improve overall gut health.<\/li>\n<li data-node-id=\"24.3\"><strong data-node-id=\"24.3.0\">Joint and bone health:<\/strong> Finally, a <a href=\"https:\/\/pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov\/39313022\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" data-vars-ga-outbound-link=\"https:\/\/pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov\/39313022\/\" data-vars-ga-ux-element=\"Hyperlink\" data-vars-ga-call-to-action=\"research review\" data-node-id=\"24.3.2\" class=\"body-link css-1eg3mui emevuu60\">research review<\/a> from Iran found that the acids and vitamins in ghee may promote joint lubrication and reduce inflammation.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong data-node-id=\"25.0\">Who should not consume ghee?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p data-journey-content=\"true\" data-node-id=\"26\" class=\"css-12w55iq emevuu60\">If you have heart disease, high cholesterol or metabolic disease, you should ask your doctor if ghee is safe for you. \u201cGhee is rich in the types of fat that the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.heart.org\/en\/healthy-living\/healthy-eating\/eat-smart\/fats\/dietary-fats\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" data-vars-ga-outbound-link=\"https:\/\/www.heart.org\/en\/healthy-living\/healthy-eating\/eat-smart\/fats\/dietary-fats\" data-vars-ga-ux-element=\"Hyperlink\" data-vars-ga-call-to-action=\"American Heart Association\" data-node-id=\"26.1\" class=\"body-link css-1eg3mui emevuu60\">American Heart Association<\/a> says should be limited,\u201d says Taub-Dix.  \u201cSo, while ghee may have certain nutritional benefits, <strong data-node-id=\"26.3\">I\u2019d suggest using it in moderation, as you would butter, and instead rely regularly on fats like olive or avocado oil<\/strong>, which have been shown to support heart health.\u201d <\/p>\n<p><strong data-node-id=\"27.0\">How can you work ghee into your diet?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p data-journey-content=\"true\" data-node-id=\"28\" class=\"css-12w55iq emevuu60\">It\u2019s pretty simple \u2014 start with cooking.  \u201cUse ghee for saut\u00e9ing, roasting, frying or scrambling,\u201d Blatner suggests. \u201cThink ghee scrambled eggs, ghee saut\u00e9ed veggies or ghee roasted nuts.  You can also bake with ghee, swapping it for butter in cookies or muffins. Spread it on whole grain bread or drizzle it on popcorn.&#8221; A little goes a long way because of the rich flavor, so start with a small amount.<\/p>\n<p data-journey-content=\"true\" data-node-id=\"29\" class=\"css-12w55iq emevuu60\">\u201cMy favorite way to use ghee is blooming spices, as it not only boosts their flavor but also makes their beneficial compounds more bioavailable for better absorption,\u201d says Iu. \u201cI love recommending my clients to try it by blooming spices in ghee, and drizzling it over fresh popcorn. A bonus of the popcorn is fiber and many spices offer antioxidant compounds!\u201d  <\/p>\n<p>Bottom line<\/p>\n<p data-journey-content=\"true\" data-node-id=\"31\" class=\"css-12w55iq emevuu60\">Ghee may support some aspects of your health. Nutritionally, salted butter and ghee are very similar, so it really comes down to a personal preference and how you&#8217;re cooking with each. Ghee has a higher smoke point than butter, which means it&#8217;s better for searing and frying.
