The roof of the building has been left destroyed following the blaze, which gripped the premises on Friday morning.<\/p>\n

A huge blaze has gutted a church building in Glasgow <\/a>following an inferno in the early hours of this morning.<\/p>\n

Firefighters raced to the blaze at Christ Apostolic Church on the city’s Govan Road<\/a> on Friday morning. The religious building is understood to have gone up in flames overnight.<\/p>\n

It is currently unknown if there are any injuries. Images from the scene <\/a>show the inferno gripping the building near the city centre.<\/p>\n

Flames were pictured ravaging the roof <\/a>as smoke billowed into the sky.<\/p>\n

Other images show the smouldering aftermath of the fire<\/a>, with the roof of the building completely destroyed.<\/p>\n

Firefighters were pictured watering down the charred remains of the premises <\/a>on Friday afternoon.<\/p>\n

A height vehicle and police were pictured in attendance <\/a>while the area was cordoned off.<\/p>\n

Glasgow City Council confirmed that the area <\/a>remains closed.<\/p>\n

Govan Road has been closed off between Craigiehall Place<\/a> and Lorne Street.<\/p>\n

Motorists have been told to find alternative routes<\/a>.<\/p>\n

A spokesperson for Glasgow Council\u2019s Traffic Control and Management told Glasgow Live<\/a>: \u201cGovan Road between Craigiehall Place and Lorne Street is currently closed to all traffic due to an unsafe building caused by fire. Emergency services are on location.<\/p>\n

\u201cRoad users are advised to avoid the area <\/a>and consider alternative routes.\u201d<\/p>\n
