James Kenny’s “behaviour spilled over into violence leaving the woman fearing for her life”<\/p>\n

A thug who only knew a woman for three weeks left her “fearing for her life”. A court heard in the early hours of April 10 the woman was sleeping at her home when she woke to find James Kenny standing over her.<\/a><\/p>\n

The 35-year-old accused her of speaking to other men which she denied. He then left with his belongings, and she continued to deny this over the phone to him which was met with abuse.<\/p>\n

At around 10.30am the same morning she heard someone coming through the front door and realised Kenny had taken her keys to let himself into her address with his friend. Kenny continued to shout at her as he tried to take her phone off her.<\/a><\/p>\n

The struggle continued and he assaulted her repeatedly. He then went into the kitchen smashing plates and cups and throwing items he\u2019d taken out of her cupboards.<\/p>\n

Kenny, from Brick Street, Warrington<\/a> appeared at Liverpool Crown Court on Thursday, October 16 to be sentenced after he pleaded guilty to assault and criminal damage at an earlier hearing.<\/p>\n

He was found not guilty of intentional strangulation. Kenny was sentenced to two years and two months in prison.<\/p>\n

PC Michael McAulfield said: \u201cKenny\u2019s jealous behaviour spilled over into violence leaving the woman fearing for her life.<\/p>\n

\u201cNo one should feel threatened in their own home, and no one should be met with violence in any relationship.<\/p>\n

\u201cI want to reassure people that those who use violence will face the consequences while victims will be supported and given any help and advice they should need.\u201d<\/p>\n
