\n\tPrince William<\/a> and Kate Middleton<\/a> don\u2019t want a robust royal schedule<\/a>, but not everyone is pleased by that idea.<\/p>\n

\n\tRepublic, an anti-monarchy group in the U.K., is making sure the Prince and Princess of Wales understand that they are waging a campaign against them<\/a>. They want citizens to know \u201cjust how little the royals do\u201d by revealing their calendar. According to The National<\/a>, William has worked 13 days over the last two and a half months, but some engagements are so \u201cbrief\u201d that it\u2019s \u201cthe full-time equivalent of three to four days of engagements.\u201d Yikes!<\/p>\n

\n\tGraham Smith, the chief executive of the group, told the Scottish media outlet that William and Kate are \u201cparticularly lazy\u201d members of the royal family<\/a>. \u201cThe palace likes to paint a picture of busy royals supporting good causes,\u201d he criticized the palace. \u201cThe reality is a work-shy family<\/a> who occasionally patronize charities \u2013 usually a short drive from Windsor \u2013 to give an entirely false impression.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tHe wants \u201cfull and honest disclosure about just how little the royals do and the negligible impact they have on public life.\u201d Smith has been a thorn in the side of the royal family ever since Republic protested at King Charles\u2019 coronation<\/a> in May 2023. While Smith is critical of the entire royal family, William appears to be at the top of his hit list \u2014 and a few members of the palace might agree with the anti-monarchist.<\/p>\n

\n\tTina Brown\u2019s Sept. 10 Fresh Hell<\/a> Substack reported that King Charles was frustrated<\/a> by his eldest son\u2019s light work schedule. \u201cAfter five confirmed family vacations in the past seven months, William\u2019s first-week-back diary pulsated with two outings: a father-daughter excursion to a Women\u2019s Rugby World Cup pool match and a stroll through the Natural History Museum\u2019s new gardens,\u201d Brown wrote, while explaining that Charles \u201chas carried out official engagements on 175 days during the past 12 months\u201d amid his cancer battle.<\/p>\n

\n\tPrincess Anne is also reportedly \u201cannoyed\u201d<\/a> that her nephew refuses to do \u201cmore of the \u2018bread-and-butter\u2019 royal engagements\u201d for the palace, according to a piece by The Times<\/a> in July. \u201cShe\u2019s still doing most of the investitures [at Windsor] even though William lives there. It annoys her,\u201d a palace insider revealed.<\/p>\n

\n\tAccording to a 2024 report<\/a> by the Republic, the royal family costs U.K. taxpayers almost $670 million per year, so that might be why they want William and Kate to get to work. The royal couple has not addressed the issue, but Smith is likely going to stay on their case.<\/p>\n
