href=\"https:\/\/www.thetennisgazette.com\/news\/rod-laver-reacts-as-jannik-sinner-beats-alexander-zverev-in-the-australian-open-final\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Zverev reached his maiden Australian Open final<\/a>, falling to defeat against Jannik Sinner, 3-6, 6-7, 3-6.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.thetennisgazette.com\/news\/nick-kyrgios-delivers-his-instant-thoughts-after-jannik-sinner-is-banned-from-tennis-for-three-months\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Sinner was then banned from tennis<\/a>, gifting the German a golden opportunity to become world number one for the first time.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" width=\"1024\" height=\"683\" Images<\/p>\n<p>Unable to take advantage, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thetennisgazette.com\/tag\/alexander-zverev\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Zverev<\/a> failed to win any of his next six tournaments, despite entering them all as the number one seed.<\/p>\n<p>It was at his seventh tournament that the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thetennisgazette.com\/tag\/atp\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">ATP\u2019s<\/a> number two-ranked player returned to winning ways, as he now picks out the match that helped him turn his fortunes around.<\/p>\n<p>Alexander Zverev says his win over Tallon Griekspoor in Munich was a \u2018turnaround\u2019 point for his 2025 season<\/p>\n<p>Following his second-round win at the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thetennisgazette.com\/tag\/madrid-open\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Madrid Open<\/a>, Zverev picked out the moment where he thinks his 2025 season turned around.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" width=\"1024\" the match against [Tallon] Griekspoor there, that was actually a bit of a turnaround point for me.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cYeah, winning tournaments always gives you confidence, I needed that.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.thetennisgazette.com\/news\/alexander-zverev-pinpoints-one-part-of-his-game-which-is-terrible-at-the-minute-after-suffering-another-defeat-at-indian-wells\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Zverev had lost to Tallon Griekspoor<\/a> at Indian Wells earlier in the year, but exacted his revenge on the Dutch star in Munich, as he booked his place in the target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Ben Shelton<\/a>, to lift the title in Munich for a third in his opening match at the 2025 Madrid Open, 6-2, 6-2.<\/p>\n<p>The world number two assessed his performance during his post-match interview.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p>\u201cGood match, all in all, I knew I had to focus against Roberto [Bautista Agut], he\u2019s an incredible player, [former] top ten in the world,\u201d said Zverev.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI knew it was going to be a tough challenge, and I\u2019m very happy with today.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Zverev went on to say just how much he enjoys playing in the Spanish capital.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI would say this is my favorite Centre Court in the entire and as long as I do that, I\u2019m happy.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019m looking forward to the next ten days here.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Zverev has lost just five total matches at the Madrid Open throughout his waiting for him in the final, although he won\u2019t want to get too far ahead of himself.<\/p>\n<p>Zverev will first focus on taking on either Davidovich Fokina or Nuno Borges in the third round of
