\n\tBalenciaga\u2019s head designer, Pierpaolo Piccioli, already revealed to The Cut<\/a> that the Duchess of Sussex\u2019s appearance simply happened because \u201cshe reached out and said she\u2019d love to come to the show.\u201d He was thrilled to have her there because it was his big debut with the brand, and he made sure not to \u201ctell anyone she was coming because I wanted it to stay a surprise. In fashion, real surprises are rare<\/a>, and this one was beautiful.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tHaving an A-list star like Meghan attend a show isn\u2019t free, and celebrity stylist Phillip Bloch is spilling the tea on how expensive it is for the designers.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cI would imagine everything was paid for \u2014 travel, hotel, clothing, cars, and of course security in Madame\u2019s case because we know it\u2019s such a big issue with her,\u201d he told NewsNation<\/a>. While her two Balenciaga ensembles \u2014 one in black, one in white \u2014\u00a0were \u201cgifted,\u201d Bloch believes that they cost around $50,000 each. In order to keep her appearance a surprise, Meghan was likely flown on a private jet at an estimated cost of $200,000 round-trip.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cIf she had flown public or first class, it would have let the secret out \u2014 someone would have seen her and said something,\u201d Bloch noted. The tab would continue to add up with a luxury hotel stay, reportedly the Hotel Plaza Athens, in addition to accommodations and salary for makeup artist Daniel Martin.<\/a> His fees begin at $2,000, per the media outlet.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201dThe makeup, hair all gets included,\u201d Bloch continued. \u201cAnd of course, the cost of flowers sent to the room and the presents the designer would have left in her room.\u201d The stylist stated that it was a \u201cgenius move for Balenciaga\u201d because we are still talking about it weeks later.<\/p>\n

\n\tThe only people who were allegedly unhappy with her Paris Fashion Week attendance were the royal family<\/a>. \u201cIf they really plan to spend more time here, it changes everything<\/a>. It puts them back in the frame, and that\u2019s not what anyone expected,\u201d an insider told the Daily Beast<\/a>. It was a way for the Duchess of Sussex to have her \u201csoft power reclaimed\u201d in European society \u2014 and it worked.<\/p>\n

\n\tTina Brown told the BBC <\/a>in May 2024 that Prince Harry and Meghan\u2019s departure from the palace left a \u201ccharisma vacancy\u201d in the royal family. And now, the couple is slowly starting to find their way back to their old life without the royal constraints.<\/p>\n
