Former Newcastle United midfielder Elliot Anderson has been tipped as a future England star after progressing in leaps and bounds during his time at Nottingham Forest, with a big-money move on the cards – and some fans in the Chronicle Live comments section<\/a> say that the Magpies should try to bring him back to the club when he becomes available for sale again.<\/p>\n Anderson’s transfer has been a sore spot for fans, with the homegrown player viewed as an unfortunate casualty of Newcastle’s efforts to stay on the right side of Profit and Sustainability (PSR) rules as they continue to re-establish themselves as one of the top Premier League sides.<\/p>\n No buy-back clause was included in the \u00a335m sale, meaning that if the club want Anderson back at some point, they’ll be paying Forest’s price – currently pegged at \u00a380m after a strong start to life in the East Midlands, and an England debut.<\/p>\n Manchester United<\/a> are thought to be interested in the young midfielder, as are Manchester City and Chelsea<\/a>, so Newcastle would face tough competition for his signature.<\/p>\n Some fans reckon that the Magpies should be in the conversation when Anderson makes his next move. Reader Tepes <\/strong>says: “We go in and match whatever bids City or Chelsea put on the table, and he’ll come back. Him, Miley and Ramsey would be an awesome second-string midfield.”<\/p>\n Axepete <\/strong>writes: “I would be doing everything possible to bring Elliot Anderson back home where he belongs… even if it means paying much more than we sold him for. The lad is awesome and reminds me of Bryan Robson.”<\/p>\n The missed opportunity still lingers in the mind of commenter Kentoon<\/strong>: “The kicker for me was that we didn’t even get 35m for him because we took the Greek keeper for 20m, though he was only worth \u00a35~10m. So, effectively we only got 20~25m for Anderson, yet we still couldn’t sweeten the deal with a sell-on or buy-back?”<\/p>\n DurbanSkyslot <\/strong>writes: “I would be apoplectic if we had to fork out that sort of cash to bring back Anderson, when he was our player to begin with!”<\/p>\n Petrus <\/strong>says: “Elliot would be a back up at Newcastle to Jo, Tonali, & Bruno, but a good one at that. Having flourished at Forest, he made the right choice. Can’t see him back at the Toon as his price has doubled.”<\/p>\n Kingtroy <\/strong>says: “That was really bad business, should have had a buy-back or sell-on clause. Would love to see the lad back in a black and white top, but he had to move to play and become better, and he would not get those games at Newcastle with the players we have at the minute.”<\/p>\n On our Facebook page, Rob Allen<\/strong> agrees that the move itself was a necessary evil: “It\u2019s exactly the same as Cole Palmer. The moves made them, neither would be on the position they\u2019re in if they stayed and didn\u2019t make the move.”<\/p>\n Kevin Robinson<\/strong> writes: “Anderson would never have had the game time at Newcastle. He has come on in leaps and bounds. If the Toon brought him back, who would you drop? He\u2019s not coming back to sit on the bench.”<\/p>\n James Sharp <\/strong>also thinks there’s no future for Anderson here: “He wouldn\u2019t be playing for England staying at Newcastle.
