If you thought that Primate trailer dropping would be the only juicy horror tidbit to take into the weekend, you’d be dead wrong. If you guessed there may yet be another, then you’d be dead right. And if you somehow had a hunch that we’d be getting an update on S\u00e9bastien Vani\u010dek’s Evil Dead Burn<\/a> today then, well, you could actually be deadite \u2014 because that’s exactly what’s just happened. Just this afternoon, French filmmaker Vani\u010dek took to Instagram<\/a> to share a bloody little video confirming that shooting’s wrapped on his first foray into the Evil Dead<\/a> universe, eleven weeks after cameras started rolling. Well there you are: a tale of two slides. In the first, we have a tiny video clip showing someone repeatedly smashing a bloody metal stove-top (?) into someone \u2014 or something \u2014 while shrieking like a banshee; and in the second, far less traumatising slide, there’s a shot of Vani\u010dek hugging what looks to be star Souheila Yacoub (Dune: Part Two<\/a>). And honestly, even though nothing’s been revealed of Evil Dead Burn’s plot yet beyond the fact the movie isn’t connected to Lee Cronin’s Evil Dead Rise<\/a> or the rest of the franchise, it seems a safe bet Yacoub is gonna need it. Speaking to Konbini after the project was first announced, Vani\u010dek teased Evil Dead Burn<\/a>‘s brutality, saying “I told the studio that I wanted to make a nasty movie, a movie that hurts, from which you come out tested. I’m going to put all the horror I have inside \u2014 it will be cathartic.”<\/p>\n

Opening the Necronomicon with Vani\u010dek on Burn alongside Yacoub are Wednesday<\/a>\u00a0star Hunter Doohan, Luciane Buchanan, and Tandi Wright, while franchise creator Sam Raimi, series icon Bruce Campbell, and Lee Cronin are all aboard to produce. We’ll find out what effed-up undead shenanigans await when S\u00e9bastien Vani\u010dek’s Evil Dead Burn splatters across cinema screens on 24 July, 2026.
