Maria Celia Laborde (USA) and Eva Perez Soler (ESP) both showed great control and confidence throughout the preliminaries, making the most of every opportunity with sharp transitions and precise technique. Behind them, the bronze medal contests were equally anticipated, featuring judoka who had demonstrated courage, adaptability and fighting spirit earlier in the day. The stage was set for a thrilling conclusion in Guadalajara.

Maria Celia Laborde (USA) vs Eva Perez Soler (ESP)

In less than fifteen seconds, Laborde took the lead with a precise seoi-otoshi, immediately setting the tone of the final. After this strong start, the contest settled into a balanced rhythm though, both judoka managing their attacks carefully. As penalties began to appear, Laborde controlled the tempo perfectly, maintaining her advantage until the final gong without taking unnecessary risks.
