{"id":508376,"date":"2025-10-18T02:52:19","date_gmt":"2025-10-18T02:52:19","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/508376\/"},"modified":"2025-10-18T02:52:19","modified_gmt":"2025-10-18T02:52:19","slug":"landsec-plan-to-reinvent-lewisham-mall-has-been-approved","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/508376\/","title":{"rendered":"Landsec plan to reinvent Lewisham mall has been approved"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>\n                                    <b>Published<\/b><br \/>\n                                    <\/p>\n<p>                                        October 17, 2025<\/p>\n<p class=\"article-content col-md-8 offset-md-1\">\n                                Landsec can push ahead with the revitalisation of Lewisham town shopping centre in Southeast Londonafter the property giant secured planning permission for the phased redevelopment of the run-down 1970s venue.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"news-image\" style=\"width:100%;\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/10\/2088.png\" alt=\"\" loading=\"lazy\"\/> Landsec&#8217;s reimagined Lewisham town centre<\/p>\n<p class=\"col-md-8 offset-md-1 article-content--texte\">The \u201capproved masterplan will deliver a reimagined shopping centre&#8221;, offering the same amount of retail space as today while also allowing the delivery of over 1,700 new homes, 660 student beds and 445 co-living residences.<\/p>\n<p>Approved by Lewisham Council, the plans also include a permanent home for Lewisham\u2019s Model Market, and a 500-capacity culture, music and arts venue that will \u201creignite the area\u2019s night-time economy\u201d.<\/p>\n<p class=\"col-md-8 offset-md-1 article-content--texte\">Almost half of the 17-acre site is also set to become new public green space.<\/p>\n<p>The ambitious residential-led neighbourhood has the potential to redefine urban life in Lewisham, creating a thriving, sustainable town centre, we&#8217;re told. The plans have been carefully phased to retain key parts of the shopping centre. And with all the new residential space it could mean a major boost for the shops there.<\/p>\n<p>Mike Hood, COO of Landsec said: \u201cThis is an exciting moment for the future of Lewisham\u2019s town centre.
