Bill Skarsg\u00e5rd<\/strong> will return as Pennywise in \u201cIT: Welcome to Derry<\/strong>,\u201d but don\u2019t expect to see the dancing clown until later in season.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt is a shapeshifting creature, and in the movies there\u2019s only so much space to see those non-Pennywise manifestations,\u201d co-showrunner Jason Fuchs<\/strong> tells EW<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Director and co-creator Andy Muschietti<\/strong>, who likens the build in anticipation to the reveal of the shark in Jaws, adds, \u201cIf people are watching to be terrified, they will be terrified from the get-go.\u201d<\/p>\n

Serving as a prequel to\u00a0<\/strong>Muschietti\u2019s IT films based on Stephen King<\/strong>\u2018s 1986 novel, the eight-episode series premieres Sunday, October 26,<\/strong> at 9pm ET\/PT on HBO and HBO Max.<\/p>\n

The first season is set in 1962, with plans or the second season to take place in 1935 and the third season to be set in 1908.<\/p>\n

Jovan Adepo <\/strong>(\u201cThe Stand\u201d), Taylour Paige\u00a0<\/strong>(The Toxic Avenger), Chris Chalk\u00a0<\/strong>(\u201cGotham\u201d), James Remar<\/strong> (\u201cDexter\u201d), Stephen Rider<\/strong> (\u201cDaredevil\u201d), Madeleine Stowe<\/strong> (\u201cRevenge\u201d), and Rudy Mancuso<\/strong>\u00a0(The Flash) star.<\/p>\n

Alixandra Fuchs<\/strong>\u00a0(Boogeyman Pop), Kimberly Guerrero<\/strong>\u00a0(\u201cReservation Dogs\u201d), Dorian Grey<\/strong>\u00a0(Star Trek: Discovery),\u00a0Thomas Mitchell<\/strong>\u00a0(Spiral: From the Book of Saw), BJ Harrison<\/strong> (Rise of the Planet of the Apes), Peter Outerbridge<\/strong>\u00a0(Saw VI),\u00a0Shane Marriott<\/strong> (\u201cFargo\u201d),\u00a0Chad Rook<\/strong>\u00a0(Resident Evil: Welcome to Raccoon City), Joshua Odjick<\/strong>\u00a0(The Long Walk), and Morningstar Angeline\u00a0<\/strong>(\u201cEcho\u201d) round out the cast.<\/p>\n

Fuchs, who wrote the script for the first episode, serves as co-showrunner alongside Brad Caleb Kane<\/strong> (\u201cCrystal Lake\u201d).<\/p>\n<\/p>\n
