Liverpool will be looking to revive their season with a win over bitter rivals Manchester United<\/a> on Sunday. Following an imperious start, Arne Slot’s side’s early season title challenge stumbled in the run-up to the international break.<\/p>\n Chelsea’s 2-1 win over the Reds<\/a> before the break followed a 97th-minute winner<\/a> for Crystal Palace<\/a> a week earlier. In between was a tough evening in Istanbul as the Reds lost to Galatasaray in the Champions League<\/a>, their first defeat in the European competition this year.<\/p>\n However, the international break should have presented Slot’s squad with a good chance to refocus as they look to usurp Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal<\/a>, who sit top of the Premier League<\/a> by a point.<\/p>\n With Jurgen Klopp<\/a> back in the news, a sensational Mohamed Salah<\/a> claim made by former Premier League boss Sam Allardyce<\/a> and Trent Alexander-Arnold<\/a> exit from Liverpool<\/a> still generating headlines, Mirror Football<\/strong> takes a look at all the latest news coming out of Anfield.<\/p>\n Klopp takes new job<\/p>\n Former Reds boss Klopp has taken a new role with the German Football<\/a> League (DFL). His role involves clubs including RB Leipzig, Salzburg and New York Red Bulls.<\/p>\n Announcing Klopp as part of an expert group aimed at improving the nation\u2019s game, the DFL said: “The expert group will address, among other things, the training and integration of talented players as well as the further development of club standards and structures. Initial results are to be discussed in the league committees in spring 2026 and subsequently with all 36 clubs.\u201d<\/p>\n DFL managing director Marc Lenz added: \u201cWe are convinced that the financial, legal, and sporting frameworks must be right to keep the Bundesliga and German football consistently competitive. We need to draw the right conclusions together. The expert group will provide valuable input in this regard.”<\/p>\n Klopp will be joined on the panel by the likes of former Real Madrid<\/a> star Sami Khedira, Bayern Munich<\/a>\u2019s Jochen Sauer and Eintracht Frankfurt\u2019s Markus Krosche in the job.<\/p>\n Salah transfer claim<\/p>\n Ex-Bolton manager Sam Allardyce has sensationally claimed that former Man United manager Sir Alex Ferguson<\/a> would\u2019ve sold Mo Salah if he were in charge at Anfield this season.<\/p>\n Allardyce was joined on No Tippy Tappy Football by Dorking Wanderers manager Marc White. White asked whether Ferguson would\u2019ve sold the 33-year-old rather than handing him a two-year contract extension, as Liverpool did toward the end of last season.<\/p>\n \u201cProbably,” Allardyce said when asked. “He knew when to move a player on, without a doubt. He was a master [at that], and he was a master at maximising the fee. He let them go just before they ended up being not as valuable.\u201d<\/p>\n “How many players have we seen who are in the last year of their contract, and I\u2019m not just picking out Mo Salah<\/a>. They get the big contract they\u2019ve been waiting for, because they\u2019re in the last year of their contract, and they decide to stay.<\/p>\n \u201cIn all fairness, Mo Salah probably could\u2019ve gone and earned a lot more money in Saudi [Arabia], but we have seen other players that seem to decline after getting a bigger contract than they had before.\u201d<\/p>\n Ferguson had a history of selling high-profile players when they were in their pomp, including Jaap Stam, David Beckham<\/a>, Roy Keane<\/a>, Ruud van Nistelrooy and Cristiano Ronaldo<\/a>.<\/p>\n So far this season, Liverpool’s third highest goalscorer of all time has scored three goals and provided three assists in 10 appearances, but hasn’t found the back of the net from open play in the Premier League<\/a> since the first game of the season.<\/p>\n However, he did enjoy a memorable international break, netting twice for Egypt in their 3-0 win over Djibouti to secure the Pharaohs’ spot in next summer’s World Cup.<\/p>\n Liverpool missing Alexander-Arnold<\/p>\n Liverpool’s recent woes have once again been pinned on the absence of former full-back Trent Alexander-Arnold<\/a>. Several pundits have claimed that Liverpool forward Salah is severely missing the now-Real Madrid star’s output from the Reds’ backline.<\/p>\n Gary Lineker suggested that Salah was pining for Trent Alexander-Arnold<\/a> after his lacklustre showing in the Reds’ defeat to Chelsea. Former Reds striker Daniel Sturridge made similar claims following the defeat<\/a>.<\/p>\n Ex-Liverpool star Don Hutchison and former Arsenal<\/a> and Chelsea<\/a> midfielder Emmanuel Petit have also weighed in. “The understanding between Trent and Salah on the right flank was excellent,” Petit told Boyle Sports.<\/p>\n “Trent supported Salah with his passing, and they seemed to play with a telepathic connection, understanding each other’s movements very well. Yes, I believe he is suffering from that loss, but as I said, this is in the past. With new signings, it takes time.”<\/p>\n Hutchison told online-casinos.com<\/a>: “Mo Salah’s missing Trent. You know, he’s missing his passes straight into his feet.
