{"id":50999,"date":"2025-04-26T02:40:16","date_gmt":"2025-04-26T02:40:16","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/50999\/"},"modified":"2025-04-26T02:40:16","modified_gmt":"2025-04-26T02:40:16","slug":"chinese-restaurant-owned-by-celeb-chef-to-open-second-branch-in-trendy-glasgow-neighbourhood","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/50999\/","title":{"rendered":"Chinese restaurant owned by celeb chef to open second branch in trendy Glasgow neighbourhood"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A CELEB chef is opening a second branch of his much-loved restaurant.<\/p>\n<p>Jimmy Lee&#8217;s Lychee Oriental\u00a0is a successful Chinese eatery on <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thescottishsun.co.uk\/where\/glasgow\/\" rel=\"noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Mitchell Street<\/a> and now it&#8217;s coming to Shawlands, according to <a aria-label=\" (opens in a new tab)\" href=\"https:\/\/www.glasgowworld.com\/lifestyle\/food-and-drink\/one-of-glasgows-best-chinese-restaurants-is-coming-to-shawlands-5095430\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noreferrer noopener\">Glasgow World<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The new eating spot will move into the former premises of Salt &amp; Chilli Oriental, which is also owned by Mr Lee.<\/p>\n<p>Elsewhere, the telly chef cooked up a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thescottishsun.co.uk\/tv\/14209460\/this-morning-jimmy-lee-burns-supper\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Burns supper with an Asian twist<\/a> and launched a lip-smacking Haggis Katsu Curry.<\/p>\n<p>The ITV\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.thescottishsun.co.uk\/topic\/this-morning\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">This Morning<\/a>\u00a0favourite, famed for his 60 second\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.thescottishsun.co.uk\/topic\/tiktok\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">TikTok<\/a>\u00a0cooking clips, revealed his latest creation took no longer than a minute to master.<\/p>\n<p>And 48-year-old Jimmy &#8211; who danced at\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.thescottishsun.co.uk\/where\/scotland\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Scottish<\/a>\u00a0Ceilidhs in his youth &#8211; told how he transformed one of his best sellers into a dish the Bard would be proud of.<\/p>\n<p>The tasty treat, exclusively for\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.thescottishsun.co.uk\/topic\/deliveroo\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Deliveroo<\/a>, marries the flavours of Scotland and the Far East by coating haggis in breadcrumbs and serving it on a bed of jasmine rice.<\/p>\n<p>Jimmy told\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.thescottishsun.co.uk\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">The Scottish Sun<\/a>: \u201cWe did some research and development and it turned out perfectly.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI had a good think about\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.thescottishsun.co.uk\/topic\/burns-night\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Burns Night<\/a>\u00a0and realised curry is a big thing in Scotland so I made a haggis katsu curry.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe took haggis and used it as a substitute for the chicken &#8211; we did what we usually do and put it in the panko breadcrumbs.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBut it didn\u2019t stick too well the first few times &#8211; but we did some research and development and it worked out perfectly after that.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The mouthwatering meal, priced at \u00a35.50 is available from Jimmy\u2019s Salt and Chilli Oriental restaurant in Shawlands,\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.thescottishsun.co.uk\/topic\/glasgow\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Glasgow<\/a>\u00a0between January 24-26.<\/p>\n<p>The celeb chef boasts a string of\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.thescottishsun.co.uk\/topic\/tv\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">TV<\/a>\u00a0appearances, including on This Morning and BBC\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.thescottishsun.co.uk\/topic\/morning-live\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Morning Live<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>And amid a busy work schedule, he revealed his plans for the patriotic evening.<\/p>\n<p>He added: \u201cI\u2019ll be working Burns Night this year but if I manage to grab a haggis, neeps and tatties from the supermarket I\u2019ll be happy.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cPartnering with Deliveroo to create the \u2018Haggis Katsu Curry\u2019 has been a fantastic experience.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"#\"><img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"Smiling chef seasoning a plate of food.\" height=\"960\" width=\"640\" data-credit=\"\" data-img=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/04\/handout-times-alba-chef-jimmy-965214995.jpg\" data-caption=\"Telly Chef Jimmy Lee has announced a new restaurant in Glasgow\"   loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/04\/handout-times-alba-chef-jimmy-965214995.jpg\" role=\"img\"\/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>1<\/p>\n<p>Telly Chef Jimmy Lee has announced a new restaurant in Glasgow<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"A CELEB chef is opening a second branch of his much-loved restaurant.
