(Image: Living Rent)<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\" publication=\"dailyrecord\">A Scots NHS worker could lose their <a class=\"TextLink_text-link__dBSS0 TextLink_enabled__dJF3l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.dailyrecord.co.uk\/lifestyle\/property\/\" target=\"_self\" aria-label=\"\" tabindex=\"0\" rel=\"noopener\">home<\/a> after the landlord left a wall &#8216;dripping wet&#8217; for 11 months.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\" publication=\"dailyrecord\">Fionn O\u2019Shea has been complaining of damp at his Glasgow flat for nearly a year. The wall was painted after the landlord was notified, but the issue, thought to have been caused by a leak at the top-floor tenement <a class=\"TextLink_text-link__dBSS0 TextLink_enabled__dJF3l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.dailyrecord.co.uk\/all-about\/homes-and-property\" target=\"_self\" aria-label=\"\" tabindex=\"0\" rel=\"noopener\">flat<\/a>, has persisted.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\" publication=\"dailyrecord\">The 31-year-old says that, after he followed up on his request for repairs, he was told he would be handed an eviction notice so that the landlord could carry out \u2018major works\u2019 to improve the <a class=\"TextLink_text-link__dBSS0 TextLink_enabled__dJF3l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.dailyrecord.co.uk\/all-about\/property-market\" target=\"_self\" aria-label=\"\" tabindex=\"0\" rel=\"noopener\">property\u2019s<\/a> standard before the landlord\u2019s son moves in.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\" publication=\"dailyrecord\">Fionn, who works to support people with mental health issues, said he assumed the leak could be quickly and easily fixed when he first found it in November 2024.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\" publication=\"dailyrecord\">He told <a class=\"TextLink_text-link__dBSS0 TextLink_enabled__dJF3l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.glasgowlive.co.uk\/news\/glasgow-news\/glasgow-nhs-worker-facing-eviction-32699519\" target=\"_self\" aria-label=\"\" tabindex=\"0\" rel=\"noopener\">Glasgow Live:<\/a> \u201cMy disappointment mounted as weeks went by with water seeping into the entire wall, paint bubbling and wallpaper peeling off.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\" publication=\"dailyrecord\">\u201cThe water in the wall through the harsh winter made the room freezing and damp.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\" publication=\"dailyrecord\">&#8220;I have severe asthma, as well as chronic joint pain, and sleeping in a room with a freezing, wet wall worsens my symptoms.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\" publication=\"dailyrecord\">\u201cI reported this to my letting agency, and bought a dehumidifier at my own cost to try and reduce the pervasive dampness, but the water was still coming.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\" publication=\"dailyrecord\">\u201cI have felt hopeless and despondent as my beautiful home became so inhospitable. Living Rent is demanding a 75% rent reduction for Fionn for the period the property has not been water-tight.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\" publication=\"dailyrecord\">The landlord agreed to address a long-term rodent infestation in Fionn\u2019s flat earlier in the year, following pressure from the tenants\u2019 union.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\" publication=\"dailyrecord\">Cat Scothorne, a member of Living Rent, said: \u201cForcing people to stay in damp housing is a choice.
