has led to serious disruptions for travellers.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">The theft, which took place in the Shenfield area, has led to a \u201closs of signalling\u201d blocking lines.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">Passengers have been advised against travelling between Shenfield, in Essex, and London Liverpool Street until later on Sunday by Greater Anglia.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.standard.co.uk\/topic\/shenfield\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" data-ylk=\"slk:Shenfield;elm:context_link;itc:0;sec:content-canvas\" class=\"link \">Shenfield<\/a> is a major junction for many routes, including trains on the Great Eastern Main Line.<\/p>\n<p><img alt=\"Services to Southend-on-Sea in Essex have also been affected (PA Wire)\" loading=\"lazy\" width=\"960\" height=\"642\" decoding=\"async\" data-nimg=\"1\" class=\"rounded-lg\" style=\"color:transparent\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/10\/e06aa03ff917f6e4c7b4a78459c10efc.jpeg\"\/><\/p>\n<p>Services to Southend-on-Sea in Essex have also been affected (PA Wire)<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">Services are disrupted between the London station and Norwich, Ipswich, Clacton-on-Sea and Southend-on-Sea.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">The incident is being investigated by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.standard.co.uk\/topic\/british-transport-police\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" data-ylk=\"slk:British Transport Police;elm:context_link;itc:0;sec:content-canvas\" class=\"link \">British Transport Police<\/a> and Network Rail teams.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">Elizabeth line trains between Stratford and Shenfield has also been affected.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">The signalling issues have led to a restricted service to Shenfield from Colchester and Southend.<\/p>\n<p><img alt=\"The cable theft is expected to cause delays and cancellations, resulting in a limited service on Sunday (PA limited service on Sunday (PA Archive)<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">Any passengers whose journeys have been delayed by over 15 minutes. will be able to claim compensation.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">In addition, Sunday tickets can now be used on Monday instead.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.standard.co.uk\/topic\/greater-anglia\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" data-ylk=\"slk:Greater Anglia;elm:context_link;itc:0;sec:content-canvas\" class=\"link \">Greater Anglia <\/a>posted an update on X on Sunday saying work is underway to rectify the situation.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">They said: \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/www.standard.co.uk\/topic\/network-rail\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" data-ylk=\"slk:Network Rail;elm:context_link;itc:0;sec:content-canvas\" class=\"link \">Network Rail <\/a>engineers have made temporary repairs to the signalling system and trains are now able to run between Shenfield and London Liverpool Street\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">They added: \u201cHowever, there will be a limited service running to\/from Liverpool Street whilst work is being carried out and the signals are rectified.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">A spokesperson for Greater Anglia said they are not currently able to confirm when the lines might reopen.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"The
