Roy Keane has delivered his verdict on Sir Jim Ratcliffe’s comments about Ruben Amorim and his Manchester United future.<\/p>\n

Roy Keane has claimed that he’s not sure Ruben Amorim<\/a> will get three years at Manchester United<\/a>.<\/p>\n

United co-owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe publicised his support for the 40-year-old head coach in an interview<\/a> during the international break. Ratcliffe cited Arsenal’s Mikel Arteta as an example and reckons that Amorim deserves time to prove his worth at Old Trafford<\/a>.<\/p>\n

“Ruben needs to demonstrate he is a great coach over three years,” Ratcliffe told The Business podcast<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Asked if Amorim is going to get three years, Ratcliffe replied: “Yes. That is where I would be. Three years. Because football is not overnight.<\/p>\n

“It’s three years. You also look at [Mikel] Arteta at Arsenal. He had a miserable time over those first couple of years. We have to be patient. We have a long-term plan. It isn’t a light switch. You can’t run a club like Manchester United on knee-jerk reactions to some journalist who goes off on one every week.”<\/p>\n

Amorim then reacted to Ratcliffe’s comments in his pre-match press conference on Friday and stated that he feels the full support of United’s senior management.<\/p>\n

Now, United great Keane has weighed in on the situation – and admitted he isn’t sure Amorim is going to get the time to turn it around, should results and performances not improve.<\/p>\n

“I’m not so sure about that,” Keane said on Sky Sports. “It’s all well and good getting the backing off the board, but results have to improve. You hope, of course, any manager is given time.<\/p>\n

“Whether he will get three years to play with depends how they do over the next few months. They have picked up a little bit – with the new attacking players they look more of a goal threat.<\/p>\n

“But the big test is games like today. Are they going to show their quality or are they going to grind a result out? There are still question marks away from home. Yeah, they have picked up, but coming to Liverpool<\/a> is a huge test and there are still huge questions marks over this group.”<\/p>\n

United head to Liverpool on Sunday afternoon attempting to make it successive wins for the first time this season after beating Sunderland 2-0 before the international break.<\/p>\n

They sit 11th in the Premier League<\/a> table on 10 points from their opening seven matches but will move into the top half with a win against Arne Slot’s reigning champions at Anfield.<\/p>\n
