A new director has been appointed at Britain’s Energy Coast Business Cluster (BECBC).<\/p>\n
Mel Kinsella, CEO and director of Kinsella HR Solutions Ltd, was voted onto the board of directors at the BECBC Annual General Meeting (AGM) this week.<\/p>\n
She takes over from Peter Fleming, who announced earlier this year that he would be stepping back.<\/p>\n

It aims to bring together businesses from various sectors to support the industry.<\/p>\n
Ms Kinsella has more than 25 years of experience, working across a variety of sectors and specialising in strategic HR and business development.<\/p>\n
In her current role, she leads both a micro business and a community interest company.<\/p>\n
Speaking about her appointment, Ms Kinsella said: “I’m absolutely thrilled to be joining the BECBC Board.<\/p>\n
“I\u2019m passionate about creating spaces where collaboration and networking can truly thrive, and I\u2019m keen to support members in unlocking new opportunities for growth and diversification, especially by drawing on the region\u2019s strengths in the nuclear sector and its innovation potential.<\/p>\n
“I\u2019m also really looking forward to building strategic partnerships with public bodies, educators, and other business networks to open up even more possibilities for our members.<\/p>\n
“Most of all, I want to help amplify the voice of the brilliant members who make up BECBC, making sure we\u2019re heard and represented where it matters most.”<\/p>\n
Dianne Richardson, CEO of BECBC, said: “We\u2019re absolutely delighted to welcome Mel Kinsella to the BECBC Board.<\/p>\n
“Her experience heading up both a micro business and a community interest company, along with her enthusiasm for supporting fellow business owners and building communities, means she will bring huge value to the team.”<\/p>\n
Paul Pointon, chair of BECBC, also welcomed the news, stating: “Mel’s energy, strategic thinking, and genuine commitment to the region will be a real asset to the board.<\/p>\n
“We’re excited to work with her to continue driving forward BECBC\u2019s mission.”<\/p>\n
The AGM also marked the retirement of John Grainger, the executive director.<\/p>\n
BECBC extended their thanks to Grainger for his “service and dedication.”<\/p>\n
The meeting also saw members come together to hear the results of the director elections, review financial updates from Andrew Clitheroe, the finance director, and gain insight into the current business landscape from Paul Pointon, BECBC chair.<\/p>\n
Councillor Mark Fryer of Cumberland Council was the keynote speaker at the event, which also marked the two-year point in BECBC\u2019s three-year strategy.<\/p>\n
Members had the opportunity to share feedback that will help shape the next phase of the cluster\u2019s plans during the upcoming team strategy day in July.<\/p>\n
The organisation is also encouraging members and stakeholders to keep an eye out for the 2025 BECBC Awards, which officially launch next month.<\/p>\n
