\n\tThe 2025 BFI London Film Festival<\/a> has closed in style thanks to Julia Jackman\u2019s superstar 100 Nights of Hero cast.<\/p>\n

\n\tThe Canadian filmmaker was joined by Emma Corrin<\/a>, Maika Monroe<\/a>, Amir El-Masry, Richard E. Grant and Felicity Jones<\/a> at the city\u2019s Royal Festival Hall on Sunday night to wrap up an almighty run of premieres for the LFF. Key cast members Nicholas Galitzine and Charli xcx were not in attendance.<\/p>\n

\n\tJackman\u2019s sophomore feature, based on the graphic novel of the same name by\u00a0Isabel Greenberg, is a visually stunning fantasy set in a fairytale kingdom. Cherry (Monroe) is happily married to Jerome (El-Masry) and living a seemingly idyllic life. But the couple have yet to conceive an heir, so when Jerome absconds and his dashing friend Manfred (Galitzine) arrives with dastardly intentions, Hero (Corrin), Cherry\u2019s wily and loyal maid, is forced to concoct a plan to distract Manfred by telling captivating stories about rebellious women.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cI\u2019ve been dreaming of making this film for a long time,\u201d Jackman said on stage. \u201cAnd I actually, to be honest, didn\u2019t know whether I\u2019d get the chance. So to be here with you guys is incredible. Thank you so much for coming.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tCorrin, star of The Crown, Nosferatu and Deadpool & Wolverine, added about crafting the character of Hero with Jackman: \u201cSo much of it was in Julia\u2019s incredible adaptation. \u2026 Hero\u2019s all-knowing wisdom \u2014 she [has] confidence and knows who she is and there\u2019s a real relief to playing someone like that. We chatted a lot about that, and [about] getting the comedy right.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tMonroe \u2014\u00a0best known for last year\u2019s horror hit Longlegs \u2014\u00a0said Jackman\u2019s script was \u201cso incredible unique and so beautiful.\u201d She said: \u201cEven just reading the script, I could imagine this fantastical world. I fell in love with Cherry. \u2026 [There] was just this feeling of, like, needing to do this role.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tThe Hollywood Reporter\u2018s review<\/a> out of Venice Critics Week \u2014\u00a0where 100 Nights of Hero earned its world premiere in August \u2014\u00a0described the feature as \u201ceccentric, fey and surprisingly dark.\u201d Leslie Felperin wrote that \u201cviewers may start to expect anything could happen \u2014 like pop superstar\u00a0Charli xcx\u00a0showing up in a supporting role as an unlucky bride with barely any lines but a sumptuous assortment of jewel-toned gowns.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tIt marks the end to another BFI London Film Festival after 11 days of star-studded screenings that had A-listers, including the likes of George Clooney, Adam Sandler, Daniel Craig, Julia Roberts, Andrew Garfield, Emma Stone, Jacob Elordi, Josh O\u2019Connor, Oscar Isaac, Paul Mescal, Jessie Buckley and Daniel Day-Lewis, flocking to London\u2019s Southbank.<\/p>\n

\n\tThe fest kicked off Oct. 8 with the European premiere of Rian Johnson\u2019s Wake Up Dead Man: A Knives Out Mystery<\/a> and hosted the casts of Jay Kelly<\/a>, Hamnet<\/a>, Frankenstein<\/a>, Springsteen: Deliver Me From Nowhere, After The Hunt, Die My Love, Bugonia, Ballad of a Small Player, Sentimental Value and Is This Thing On?, among others.<\/p>\n

\n\tThe fest has also hosted some of the industry\u2019s most celebrated directors and actors for Screen Talks sessions at BFI Southbank, including Yorgos Lanthimos<\/a>, Daniel Day-Lewis<\/a>, Richard Linklater<\/a>, Jon M. Chu<\/a>, Chlo\u00e9 Zhao<\/a> and Lynne Ramsay<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cIt\u2019s not enough for a film to just have an incredible cast \u2014\u00a0the film has to really stand on its own two feet,\u201d London Film Fest director Kristy Matheson told THR at the opening-night gala. \u201cWe\u2019re really trying to find a program that\u2019s got a lot of different textures in it, that really feels like it reflects the city that we are in. We want a really great geographical spread.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cWe want different types of stories, because here in London,\u201d she continued, \u201cthe cinema audiences are amazing. They\u2019re seeing great films every day of the week here. They really do know their cinema, so we have a standard that we need to meet.\u201d<\/p>\n
