Tayfun Salci\/ZUMA Press Wire \/ SplashNews.com<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWilliam considers his uncle a \u2018threat\u2019 and a reputational risk to the monarchy, and is understood to be concerned about the message Andrew\u2019s presence at royal events sends to victims of sexual abuse,\u201d the outlet continued.<\/p>\n<p>William also reportedly plans to ban Sarah Ferguson \u2014 Andrew\u2019s ex-wife who has <a href=\"https:\/\/pagesix.com\/2025\/10\/17\/royal-family\/sarah-ferguson-standing-by-prince-andrew-after-both-lose-titles\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">stood by the disgraced royal\u2019s side<\/a> \u2014 from royal events.<\/p>\n<p>William\u2019s rep didn\u2019t immediately respond to Page Six\u2019s request for comment.<\/p>\n<p>As for the former Duke of York, he agreed on Friday that \u201ccontinued accusations\u201d against him and his connection to Epstein, a convicted sex offender, \u201cdistract from the work of His Majesty and the Royal family,\u201d\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.telegraph.co.uk\/royal-family\/2025\/10\/17\/prince-andrew-agrees-to-give-up-duke-of-york-title\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">per the Telegraph<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>William\u2019s ban will reportedly include Andrew\u2019s ex-wife, Sarah Ferguson. AP<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI have decided, as I always have, to put my duty to my family and country first,\u201d he wrote in a statement released by Buckingham Palace. \u201cI stand by my decision five years ago to stand back from public life.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>He went on, \u201cWith His Majesty\u2019s agreement, we feel I must now go a step further. Epstein\u2019s ex-girlfriend\u00a0Ghislaine Maxwell \u2014 who was convicted of sex trafficking in 2021 and sentenced to 20 years in prison \u2014 was also in the picture.<\/p>\n<p>It\u2019s unclear whether the officer complied with Andrew\u2019s request.<\/p>\n<p>The former Duke of York said his decision to give up his royal title was made in consultation with his brother King Charles III and other family members.
