Eddie Hearn believes there is still a chance Chris Eubank Sr attends his son’s fight with Conor Benn on Saturday night.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Eubank Sr has distanced himself from the grudge match that will see Chris Eubank<\/a> Jr and Benn square off at the Tottenham Hotspur<\/a> Stadium over 30 years after their fathers’ epic duels. <\/p>\n

While Nigel Benn<\/a> has been actively involved in Conor’s camp, Eubank Sr hasn’t been present at a single pre-fight event.<\/p>\n

In fact, he has only spoken to his son once in two years following an acrimonious split.<\/p>\n

Eubank Sr had acted as a mentor and trainer for his son in the early stages of his career.<\/p>\n

But their relationship turned sour after Eubank Jr opted to go about it on his own.<\/p>\n

Despite this, Benn’s promoter Hearn admits he wouldn’t be surprised if Eubank Sr was drawn in by the glitz and glamour of the event.<\/p>\n

“The Eubank Jr and Eubank Sr stuff is very sad,” Hearn told talkSPORT Drive at the ceremonial weigh-in on Friday afternoon.<\/p>\n

“There is life beyond boxing, and hopefully, those guys can connect.<\/p>\n

“But I said to my old man [Barry Hearn], could you imagine if I was a fighter and I was involved in something like this and you weren’t there.<\/p>\n

“If I told you not to come, you would still come. And the fact that you fought this guy’s dad.<\/p>\n

“Something in my mind tells me that Eubank is going to walk out with his son.<\/p>\n

“Maybe it is delusion. It is probably knowing how fragmented [their relationship] is, 10 or 20 [per cent likely].<\/p>\n

“But Eubank loves the big stage, he loves the big entrance.<\/p>\n

“Can you imagine if the lights go down and he is there?”<\/p>\n

It isn’t just a difficult father-son relationship that reduces the likelihood of Eubank Sr turning up tomorrow night, the former two-weight world champion is also emphatic in his opposition to the fight itself.<\/p>\n

“I will not be an accomplice to their stupidity, their circus,”\u00a0he told Seconds Out last week.<\/p>\n

“It’s against the rules what is happening, 147lbs fighting 160lbs is against the rules.<\/p>\n

“When\u00a0Kell Brook<\/a>\u00a0was made to fight GGG [Gennady Golovkin] it’s against the rules.<\/p>\n

“That boy [Brook] had his eye socket smashed. For promoters, it is just a game, but to the warriors, it is a way of life.<\/p>\n

“We have to call them what they are, they are trash, they are trashing us. We are not trash, we are the standard bearers…<\/p>\n

“If you are not clever and you are not noble, this [boxing] will kill you, this vocation, what they call sport.<\/p>\n

“If you don’t play it right already, Conor, you don’t have a career to enjoy.”<\/p>\n

More than 30 years after their dads fought each other, Chris Eubank Jr and Conor Benn finally meet in the ring.<\/p>\n
