King Charles III<\/strong><\/a> secretly recorded a podcast episode with Cate Blanchett<\/strong><\/a> at Windsor Castle.<\/p>\n

Recording the Sunday, October 19, episode of \u201cUnearthed<\/a>\u201d at a table in the castle\u2019s gardens in July, the king, 76, was interviewed about his role as Kew\u2019s Patron and work in opening the Millenium Seed Bank in 2000. (Kew, England, is home to the World Heritage Site of the Royal Botanic Gardens, and the Millenium Seed Bank is the world\u2019s largest seed bank which works to safeguard global biodiversity, per the Kew Gardens website.)<\/p>\n

Interviewed by Blanchett, 56, who serves as Kew\u2019s ambassador for a nature reserve in Wakehurst, England, as well as Dr Elinor Breman<\/strong>, a senior research leader in seed conservation, the king spoke about his passion for the natural world and conservation.<\/p>\n

The new recording comes after he featured in the March podcast, \u201cThe Music Room playlist from His Majesty King Charles III,\u201d and shared a few of his favorite songs<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tIn Prince William\u2019s final day in Cape Town, South Africa, following his annual Earthshot Prize awards, the royal answered a reporter\u2019s question about how the past year has been for him with surprising candidness. \u201cHonestly, it\u2019s been dreadful,\u201d he confessed. \u201cIt\u2019s probably been the hardest year in my life.\u201d William has been forced to contend [\u2026]\t\t<\/p>\n

In \u201cUnearthed,\u201d the king, who spends significant time at Windsor Castle despite currently residing at Clarence House in London with Queen Camilla<\/strong>, said he opened the Millenium Seed Bank after realizing \u201chow important\u201d an initiative it was.<\/p>\n

He said his involvement began by \u201crescuing all the heritage vegetables \u2026 and fruit and plants and everything,\u201d before his work expanded. \u201cI just felt it was critical to keep the balance always \u2026 because we may need them at a later stage, don\u2019t throw them away. It was quite difficult.\u201d<\/p>\n

The podcast detailed that the Millenium Seed Bank has managed to bank 85 percent of the U.K.\u2019s threatened flora and that the initiative is now trying to capture more \u201cgenetic diversity.\u201d<\/p>\n

The king said, \u201cI keep trying to provide homes for lots of these sorts of things,\u201d before he spoke about the regeneration of Windsor Castle\u2019s private gardens.<\/p>\n

\u201cThat\u2019s a real labor of love,\u201d Blanchett, 56, remarked, leading the king to explain, \u201cThanks, I\u2019ve been making more beds, I\u2019ve marked them all out \u2026 and more trees. Trying to keep them going is the problem.<\/p>\n

The king is set to explore more of his advocacy of our natural work in an upcoming documentary for Prime Video titled, \u201cFinding Harmony: A King\u2019s Vision.\u201d The project was announced on October 8, with the king stating at the time, \u201cNature is our sustainer \u2014 we are part of nature. Therefore, what we do to her, we do to ourselves. For much of my life, I have sought to promote and encourage ways we can work with, rather than against nature. In other words, to restore balance to our planet which is under such stress.\u201d<\/p>\n

The announcement of the project, which is set to be released in early 2026, came right after the king and Prince William<\/strong> stepped out<\/a> together at the Countdown to COP30 event on October 9 at London\u2019s Natural History Museum.<\/p>\n

The father-and-son duo are rumored to be experiencing tension after several outlets claimed of a strained relationship in light of the Prince of Wales, 43, speaking out<\/a> about the monarchy on Eugene Levy<\/strong>\u2019s The Reluctant Traveler series for Apple TV, which premiered earlier this month.<\/p>\n

\u201cI think it\u2019s safe to say that change is on my agenda. Change for good. And I embrace that and I enjoy that change \u2014 I don\u2019t fear it,\u201d William said on the show at the time. \u201cThat\u2019s the bit that excites me, is the idea of being able to bring some change.
