{"id":513295,"date":"2025-10-20T02:19:10","date_gmt":"2025-10-20T02:19:10","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/513295\/"},"modified":"2025-10-20T02:19:10","modified_gmt":"2025-10-20T02:19:10","slug":"meghan-markles-3-word-demand-to-staff-on-how-to-address-her-royal-news-2","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/513295\/","title":{"rendered":"Meghan Markle&#8217;s 3-word demand to staff on how to address her | Royal | News"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Meghan Markle issued a straightforward three-word directive regarding how she wished to be addressed by an <a data-link-tracking=\"InArticle|Link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.express.co.uk\/news\/royal\/2081987\/invictus-games-statement-staff-member\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Invictus Games staff member.<\/a><\/p>\n<p>The Duke and Duchess of Sussex journeyed to Canada last February for <a data-link-tracking=\"InArticle|Link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.express.co.uk\/news\/royal\/2006709\/2025-invictus-games-prince-harry-meghan-markle-what-we-know\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">the Invictus Games Vancouver Whistler 2025.<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Scott Moore was named as the new chief executive of the Invictus Games Vancouver Whistler 2025 last year, charged with supervising the organisation&#8217;s first winter competition.<\/p>\n<p>In preparation for the event, Mr Moore disclosed his encounter with the couple, who withdrew from their Royal responsibilities in 2020.<\/p>\n<p>He disclosed that he had enquired about the correct manner to address them, reports the <a data-link-tracking=\"InArticle|Link\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.the-express.com\/entertainment\/celebrity-news\/187252\/meghan-markles-3-word-demand-to-staff\" target=\"_blank\">Express US.<\/a><\/p>\n<p>According to him, the Duchess responded, &#8220;Ma&#8217;am is fine&#8221; as he previously told the Daily Mail.<\/p>\n<p>Likewise, a simple &#8220;Sir&#8221; was suitable for addressing the Duke of Sussex.<\/p>\n<p>He told the media outlet in February of the previous year, &#8220;I did make sure to ask how I should be addressing them when they get here, and I was told the simple sir and ma&#8217;am is fine.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Usually, male members of the Royal Family are initially addressed as &#8220;Your Royal Highness&#8221; followed by &#8220;Sir,&#8221; whilst female members are first called &#8220;Your Royal Highness&#8221; and subsequently &#8220;Ma&#8217;am,&#8221; reports the Express.<\/p>\n<p>Harry and Meghan have since stopped being working members of the Firm.<\/p>\n<p>Despite this, they retain their full Royal titles, including their HRH styles; however, they have agreed not to use them for commercial purposes following their departure, in line with agreements made with the royals.<\/p>\n<p>This isn&#8217;t the first time reports have emerged about how Harry and Meghan prefer to be addressed.<\/p>\n<p>Just a month before this year&#8217;s Invictus Games, Vanity Fair published a startling cover story containing various claims about the Sussex duo, including allegations that some of their former employees were required to address them as sir or ma&#8217;am, despite their non-working Royal status.<\/p>\n<p>The article stated: &#8220;Some people familiar with the production of Archetypes and Harry&#8217;s book tour said they were instructed to address the couple as sir or ma&#8217;am, though the request was dropped in one instance after the person pushed back.
