{"id":513715,"date":"2025-10-20T06:27:11","date_gmt":"2025-10-20T06:27:11","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/513715\/"},"modified":"2025-10-20T06:27:11","modified_gmt":"2025-10-20T06:27:11","slug":"connect-to-work-programme-to-support-people-to-find-work","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/513715\/","title":{"rendered":"Connect to Work programme to support people to find work"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">The latest figures for Oxfordshire, show that about 14% of those aged between 16 and 64, or about 64,000 people, are economically inactive. <\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">Starting with eight people in its first month, the programme in Oxfordshire will spend more than \u00a34,000 on each job seeker, helping them to find and stay in work. <\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">There are already 40 people on the waiting list for the scheme, which will be delivered by Oxfordshire County Council.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">Through a similar inclusive programme, Jenny Taylor found a job at council&#8217;s in-house print company.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">She said: &#8220;It&#8217;s trying to find employment that&#8217;s flexible and understanding and willing to help you when you&#8217;re down on your luck. <\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">&#8220;I&#8217;ve just moved into my first home after living with my parents for 36 years. Gaining that independence was extremely important.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">The programme is free to take part and non-compulsory. <\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">Will Gardener, lead officer for Connect to Work for the county council, said: &#8220;It&#8217;s the biggest programme of its type that we&#8217;ve seen in Oxfordshire for some time. <\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">&#8220;For it to work, people need to want to take part.
