DJ and TV presenter Jo Whiley could have gone anywhere on her holidays, citing Rome, Marrakesh or Seville as possible destinations, but a trip to north Wales won – and she says it was one of the “best” things she had ever done with her husband.<\/p>\n

Jo, who presents a nightly weekday show on BBC<\/a> Radio 2 as well as fronting the BBC’s Glastonbury programming, shared her recent holiday pics online after a trip to north Wales with her husband, Steve Morton. The pair had considered venturing on a European break however they ultimately decided to hike up Yr Wyddfa instead.<\/p>\n

The presenter shared an anecdote on social media about a previous holiday with her husband.<\/p>\n

Jo explained: “The last time Disco Steve and I went away for a non work-related weekend was, I reckon, in 1997 when our firstborn India was about five years old.<\/p>\n

“I cried all the way to the airport and the whole flight to NYC because we were leaving her behind & the thought of getting on a plane without her terrified me. We had an amazing time.”<\/p>\n

Now, the pair have embarked on an adventure a little closer to home, in the way of a hiking trip to north Wales.<\/p>\n

Jo shared on Instagram: “Fast forward twenty eight years and we decided we needed a break after a difficult week. We considered Rome, Marrakesh, Seville…but chose instead to climb Yr Wyddfa (Snowdon) having never climbed or hiked very far before.<\/p>\n

“It was one of the BEST things we\u2019ve ever done together.”<\/p>\n

She continued: “We chose to go with a guide so we\u2019d learn along the way and lovely Tom from @mountainxperience<\/a> was excellent.<\/p>\n

“We met so many great people in our group and as we went along, sharing stories and life experiences over the course of the seven hours.<\/p>\n

“The array and diversity (and footwear) of the people doing the Snowdon challenge was extraordinarily inspiring – all ages and abilities, dogs and children, groups of friends and soloists (putting on their steel pants).<\/p>\n

“The views when the clouds cleared were stunning but more than anything, the shared experience and the sense of achievement was everything. Such a happy & cathartic day”She added: “PS. Thanks Mum for insisting it was something we MUST do in our lifetime.”<\/p>\n

The presenter shared a selection of photos of the pair on the North Walian mountain, alongside some celebration shots for completing the hike.<\/p>\n

Jo also shared a video where she said the hike was “worth it for the view.”<\/p>\n
