Sheffield Wednesday<\/a> are in talks over an emergency loan deal for Bristol City<\/a> goalkeeper Joe Lumley, according to Dom Howson<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Sheffield Wednesday<\/a> are a club in crisis this season, and things just seem to be getting tougher and tougher at Hillsborough.<\/p>\n

With threats of a winding-up order<\/a> lurking, Henrik Pedersen and co face a tough task keeping the squad focused on on-pitch matters. There have been some positive results for SWFC, but they couldn\u2019t avoid a 2-1 defeat away at Charlton Athletic<\/a> on Saturday.<\/p>\n

Unfortunately, loan goalkeeper Ethan Horvath<\/a> was sent off in the defeat to the Addicks. He saw a straight red deep into second-half stoppage time after taking out Isaac Olaofe<\/a>.<\/p>\n

It leaves the Owls without a senior goalkeeper, with teenager Logan Stretch next in the pecking order amid injuries. <\/p>\n

However, it seems Sheffield Wednesday<\/a> could be on the verge of making an emergency addition to the ranks, subject to EFL approval.<\/p>\n

Dom Howson has reported on X<\/a> that talks are ongoing over an emergency loan deal for Joe Lumley of Bristol City<\/a>. The expectation is that the EFL will approve the signing with Horvath set to be suspended for two games, meaning Stretch would remain second choice.<\/p>\n

There\u2019s a lengthy wrap sheet of regulation breaches under the Sheffield Wednesday<\/a> name at EFL headquarters. It means a points deduction is inevitable, and until things are resolved, they\u2019ll remain under a tight embargo.<\/p>\n

However, it seems they will be given some valuable leeway in being allowed to make an emergency loan move for Lumley.<\/p>\n

Pedersen would have backed SWFC youngster Stretch to step up like all his other prospects have. However, it will be valuable for them to have an experienced goalkeeper in behind them rather than a talent who is being thrown in at the deep end.<\/p>\n

Lumley has seen it all when it comes to the Championship, so he should be well-equipped to provide an assured presence behind the defence.<\/p>\n

Lumley is formerly of Boro, so it makes for a chance reunion when the Bristol City<\/a> man likely wouldn\u2019t have faced them otherwise.
