Sheffield Wednesday are continuing to face severe financial issues as their ownership situation remains unresolved.\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n Sheffield Wednesday\u2019s players weren\u2019t paid in September<\/a>, making it five of the past seven months where they have not received their wages on time. <\/p>\n During this period,\u00a0Sheffield Wednesday have also been hit with six embargos<\/a>, the most recent coming after they were found to have breached the EFL\u2019s profit and sustainability rules.\u00a0<\/p>\n As a result of their disastrous circumstances, there has been talk of the\u00a0independent regulator taking control of Sheffield Wednesday<\/a>\u00a0and removing Dejphon Chansiri<\/a> from the club\u2019s ownership.\u00a0<\/p>\n BBC Sport<\/a>\u00a0reported on 16 October the Owls\u00a0will be hit with a winding-up petition imminently after failing to settle a \u00a31million debt owed to HMRC.\u00a0<\/p>\n Former\u00a0Man City<\/a>\u00a0financial adviser\u00a0Stefan Borson<\/a>\u00a0exclusively told\u00a0Football Insider\u00a0<\/strong>the winding-up petition will not be decisive in resolving Sheffield Wednesday<\/a>\u2019s future.\u00a0<\/p>\n There has been speculation the latest updates could force Chansiri into selling the club<\/a>. <\/p>\n MORE FOOTBALL INSIDER STORIES<\/p>\n Speaking exclusively to\u00a0Football Insider<\/strong>,\u00a0Borson\u00a0said:\u00a0\u201cWell, we knew there was a HMRC issue because one of the embargoes from the EFL was a HMRC embargo.\u00a0<\/p>\n \u201cWe also have public notes from the fan group who met with the EFL, where the possibility of a winding-up petition and the HMRC issue was in those notes. So, this isn\u2019t a secret that there\u2019s been an issue with HMRC in any way. <\/p>\n \u201cIf you\u2019re a club that\u2019s sometimes not paying staff and players, inevitably you\u2019ve also got an issue with HMRC.
